I’m sure I’ve seen that cover linked to long, long ago as an example of bad cover art. It’s almost down there with Phoenix Games levels of crapness, only with less Disney infringement.

Good God, has this re-surfaced. Right, the theory we’ve come up with is that the designer of the cover was given a description of the story and not actually read the book. Hence the likenesses of Ian Holm, what looks like Foxy from Foxy Bingo, the guy from the cover of Scanners and Richard O’Brien, if he was in Doom.

I tracked this down ages ago as being one of those Sci-Fi Book Club editions – clearly it was put out with an “exclusive” cover done by an artist who’s probably never seen the show but worked entirely from the descriptions in the book.

I’m bloody desperate to get my hands on a copy, but I’m not paying that much for it! Especially since it’s hard to guarantee that the copy those sellers have is that particular edition… even so, though… hmmm, ?30 is *sort* of tempting… gah!

This reminds me that I really must get round to sorting out that article on the various editions of the books – Estonian covers, anyone?

They are among the fruitiest and most subtle.

Looks like cosplayers at a fan convention – one furry, one guy dressed as Luigi and one fat guy in a tight t-shirt.
