ITV IN HALF DECENT SITCOM SHOCKER!!!

Did anyone watch ‘FM’ on ITV2 last night? It stars Chris ‘The IT Crowd’ O’Dowd and Kevin ‘Star Stories’ Bishop, and is set in a radio station.
This being ITV – where the entire comedic output is the Harry Hill hour of a saturday night – I had my doubts, but I like The IT Crowd, plus I knew that Justin Hawkins was making a guest appearance (although I didn’t know that this would be limited to a minute and a half at the very beginning of the show – Sorry, Karl, for texting you, only for you to be disappointed…).
It really wasn’t bad. Lots of MotherFucking jokes (what’s not to like?), it raised a smile or two, although it loses points for having sponsor ad trails starring Iain Lee. I was worried for a moment.
But all in all, I’ll definitely be watching it again.

I worked on this a bit – as script consultant for the channel – and I’m really pleased with how it’s come out.

There’s also a kinda Young Ones-style stubbornness to including lengthy sections with each week’s guest band, which I’m strangely taken with..

On the subject of ITV sit-coms, though, everyone could do much worse than tracking down 2003’s Dead Man Weds – a great little single series sit-com written by and starring Dave Spikey, along with Johnny Vegas being brilliant.

I thought Dead Man Weds was a cracker as well – Johnny Vegas gave a great turn in that.

To be fair, I did *try* to keep the animation on the re-sized version (despite animated GIFs not being something we’re big fans of) but I failed. I thought my compromise of Kryten mid-wink was a good one.

Actually, we’d all discussed how your avatar, which was above the size limits (for reasons we can’t figure out) was BREAKING the layout in places. So that’s why it got changed. Cappsy was just the one who happened to do it.
