Old YouTube competition vid where bloke drives to stone circle to moan about VII

I can’t find it on YouTube any more, anyone know what I’m talking about? Maybe he’s even here.

It was an entry for some Robert Llewelyn-fronted competition or other in the early years of YouTube, c.2008. Other people did animations and stuff, this was just a rural goth going about his day and intermittently berating Red Dwarf VII to camera wearily.

I guess I mainly remember it because it was the first vlog I ever saw. I found it weird that someone would put that on the internet expecting people to actually watch it, and even weirder that I was actually enjoying it. It didn’t win.

Worst nostalgia ever? I may be procrastinating from loads of work.

Hah! This was an entry to the Series VII DVD fan film competition and the “rural goth” is Mick, long time friend of everyone who runs this site and Fan Club man.

Unfortunately, it does seem he’s removed the video from his channel, because I enjoyed it a huge amount at the time.

I thought it was from a few years later and a YouTube-based competition, as I remember Robert pulling a hurt face when discussing it as a runner-up, saying it was painful to hear but funny.

But it’s likely that your inside knowledge and long-term personal acquaintance probably beat my hazy reckons.

Wasn’t there a competition to make a video about what your favourite extra was? I can’t remember what the prize was, or what won, but I do remember that I was going to enter and didn’t; and also that 2008 sounds about right for when it was.
