Orange pelted with tumble weeds and other road trash. Saw no Dark Wraiths “highway patrol” 450miles odd. Pip turns up her nose at Mc Donald’s Big Breakfast it was crap. Snowed 25 mi east of Albuquerque! We have to see how Orange does in snow, rear wheel drive. Onward to Oklahoma City Oklahoma. I hope the Indians are not on the war path,or scalp hunting. December 10, 2012 at 2:27 pm #204953 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Good luck and keep an eye out for Vogans. December 10, 2012 at 2:34 pm #204954 PhilParticipant If you make it through Denver for any reason I’ll buy you a beer. Not because I want to. But because I feel as though I have to. December 10, 2012 at 8:21 pm #204963 HelloMabelParticipant > Pip turns up her nose at Mc Donald’s Big Breakfast it was crap. Good taste, that Pip. Stick with Waffle House or IHOP. :) >I hope the Indians are not on the war path,or scalp hunting. The Indians are in India, except for those who emigrated. And our indigenous peoples will give you much less trouble than THEY got from OUR forefathers. /soapbox Actually, I have some native American ancestry and there’s a good chance that you do, too. December 10, 2012 at 8:25 pm #204965 HelloMabelParticipant >If you make it through Denver for any reason I’ll buy you a beer. Denver is a great city! Phil, I’ve got cousins in Aurora. Next time I visit them I’ll stop by to see you and we’ll have a grand old time getting pished and making up limericks. :) December 10, 2012 at 10:21 pm #204971 genericnerdyusernameParticipant > The Indians are in India But Oklahoma is a bit Indian-y, so we’ll let him have that one. December 10, 2012 at 11:28 pm #204974 BlisschickParticipant >stick with IHOP Pip has good taste, because I don’t do McDonald’s, either. I avoid Awful House at all costs, especially in Florida. IHOP is the only place to go, IMO. December 10, 2012 at 11:35 pm #204975 genericnerdyusernameParticipant International House of Prayer? An evangelical Christian who loves Red Dwarf? What the hell? …It is possible you meant you meant pancakes. Uh, I’ll be going now. December 11, 2012 at 6:41 am #204982 anniescribeParticipant If you go through Indy I too feel I am obliged to buy you a drink. Damn Midwest hospitality. December 11, 2012 at 4:00 pm #205005 Pecospete666Participant Thanks for all the invites! Maybe on the way back. Sauron’s Wraith waiting for me! But Orange has the Ring of invisibility so all he see’s is a space between the big trucks! 50 miles of pure ice, no salt, sand, the Dark One’s hand at work. Made it to Oklahoma City no problem, tonight Memphis Tenn home of Elvis,Pip does’t like him because of his “nothing but a hound dog” song. She says Hound dogs can only howl. December 11, 2012 at 11:41 pm #205015 BlisschickParticipant To see actual winter somewhere makes me jealous. Damn you global warming! I’ll only be using my heater for the next two days. I don’t get a real winter anymore. It just throws everything off. :( December 11, 2012 at 11:44 pm #205016 HelloMabelParticipant 63° *is* winter. …Isn’t it? December 12, 2012 at 12:08 am #205020 BlisschickParticipant Well, yeah, if that kind of temp were actually here. Up until this past Sunday, we were still in the 80’s. Now it’s down to freezing two nights in a row, then back up to the 70’s. Winter forgot us this year. :( December 12, 2012 at 4:04 am #205024 Pecospete666Participant Made it to Memphis Tennessee after a 3 hour detour because of a slaughtering I-40 car wreck! I have to say Onstar works OK except if I followed there instructions I would of gone 60 miles out of my way. I have it free for six months, A rich mans toy. This is how the Native Americans “Indians” our getting even with the PALE FACES Takeing all their money in the all the Casinos they own! Good for them! They are treated very badly here? December 12, 2012 at 11:03 am #205033 fozzibear1Participant that was pretty interesting so far Pecospete, I’ve only spent about 60-80 hrs in the US in my life, and business travel unfortunately. Got to see an airport, a road, a conference room, a hotel room and then back to the airport on the next day, business travel sucks. Always intended to go back for a proper visit but i’m unlikely to get the chance now, enjoyed visiting by proxy through you. December 12, 2012 at 12:30 pm #205035 anniescribeParticipant Are you people kidding me?? Sixty-three degrees WINTER? I was out for my morning walk yesterday at 7 am when it was 26 F and I was chirpy because the wind wasn’t blowing to push it down in the teens. Was positively balmy. :-P December 12, 2012 at 9:17 pm #205040 BlisschickParticipant My husband is a damned Yankee…anything below 50, and he’s still going around with no coat. I practically have frostbite. What was that Lister said about Geordies? Yeah, that’s the hubby. December 13, 2012 at 12:09 am #205041 clemParticipant We’re not all hard bastards here in Geordieland. I live in Gateshead and I’ve worn two pairs of socks to bed the last few nights. December 13, 2012 at 8:54 am #205054 Pecospete666Participant Tennessee is a fucking long state second only to Texas 455 miles! Smoky the Bear was every where!”highway patrol” speed limit is 70mph! Have to do the speed limit now since I am now on the east coast Virginia! “Virginia is for lovers” Used to be on there license plates. I-40 goes past Oak Ridge National Laboratories, see photo, the white smoke stacks are hundreds of feet tall and can be see 50 miles away! You must be handling really bad shit if you need stacks that tall. They used to make “A bombs ” in the 50s. Tomorrow the rest of Virginia,Maryland, Pennsylvanian and PecosPete’s New Jersey home! It’s 30 miles from the Big Apple. December 13, 2012 at 1:06 pm #205057 anniescribeParticipant Ah, Knoxville, my old home for several years. ORNL was actually kind of fun to tour, and you learn some bizarre things … December 13, 2012 at 11:34 pm #205073 Ben PaddonParticipant I didn’t get to see much of Tennessee when I was in Nashville a month and a half ago. I only got to see the inside of a hotel. And the outside of it, actually. Also an airport. December 13, 2012 at 11:38 pm #205075 BlisschickParticipant I was in both Memphis and Nashville back in ’99. All I remember is trying to survive the crazy drivers there, and the geese trying to eat my friend in Centennial Park. That was hilarious, actually. December 14, 2012 at 12:14 am #205077 HelloMabelParticipant >Are you people kidding me?? Sixty-three degrees WINTER? Sorry, instead of “winter,” that should have read “heaven.” :) /smug mode Blisschick, as a Kentuckian you’ll appreciate this: My last visit to Kentucky, my parents and I were asked the memorable question, “What is it with you Californians and trees? It’s just another thing you gotta mow around.” December 14, 2012 at 4:14 am #205081 BlisschickParticipant LOL! Asks those silly people who probably use a rope tied to a lawnmower to mow the side yard of their mountain home because it’s near vertical. That’s how they do it in West Virginia, anyway. Wow! Haha! (Not quite sure I understand the context of “Kentuckian” here. Are you Kentuckian, because I’m Texan.. but close enough.) What I think is funny is the whole misconception that Texas is nothing but semi-desert plains full of cactus, cattle, and oil wells. That’s only true for about a third of the state. One third is grassy, rolling plains, the other densely forested rolling hills. The part about the cactus, cattle, and oil wells is mostly true, though. :P December 14, 2012 at 2:05 pm #205092 Pecospete666Participant Home again! Greeted by my daughter dog who tried to bite me! Great drive 2700 miles to get mauled by a dog. The drive was uneventful till Maryland when a Bear came screaming down the highway and got on my ass! I said what the fuck I’m only 4 miles over the limit! he rode my ass for what seemed to be minutes, I immediately pulled out my license, registration, proof of insurance. He turned into the hammer lane and took off. I found out from my Road Rat friends “truck drivers” they the Bears have laser license plate readers so they don’t even have to get out of the car to see who you are. I have thank all the Road Rats for keep me safe on the whole journey. Truck drivers here all have C.B. radios and tell each other where the Bears are hiding,I have one too. If you never heard it, It sounds like this “Bear rolling north bound at the 115 mile marker ” this how these guys can drive across county in reasonable amount of time without speeding tickets. Well the” There” is over with’ and in about 3 wk it will be “Back Again” A shot from Texas December 14, 2012 at 3:59 pm #205100 Ben KirkhamParticipant Oh, to be in America now that December’s here. Look at that sky! *sigh* December 15, 2012 at 3:05 am #205149 Pecospete666Participant It was 23 deg F with a wind chill of +2 , But sunny! Blisschick there are two Texas’s! There’s “West Texas”and “East Texas”which are you? December 16, 2012 at 12:45 am #205195 BlisschickParticipant I’m East Texas. There’s a bunch more than just two. There’s also North Texas, South Texas (The Valley), and The Hill Country, to name a few. (And Houston will always be better than Dallas.) December 17, 2012 at 5:12 am #205239 HelloMabelParticipant Ack. Me making stupid assumptions, there. Sorry, Blisschick. Your previous avatar said “fried” with a picture of a chicken, so I thought of KFC. December 17, 2012 at 12:24 pm #205256 anniescribeParticipant Tell us the truth, BC: You’re Sheldon Cooper’s mother, aren’t you? You can trust us. It’s why you like Rimmer; he’s a git too. :-D December 17, 2012 at 7:30 pm #205273 BlisschickParticipant @Mabel…I found that trolling pics one night and thought that totally described my state of mind atm. I found out later it’s from a bar in Austin. It was destiny. And your conclusion wasn’t stupid…I see where you might think that now. No big deal. @Annie…Well, Jim Parsons is from Houston…draw your conclusions from there. :P December 17, 2012 at 10:23 pm #205290 anniescribeParticipant Well, Jim Parsons is from Houston…draw your conclusions from there. “Mom smokes in the car … Jesus is okay with it, but don’t tell Dad!” December 18, 2012 at 12:29 am #205298 BlisschickParticipant December 18, 2012 at 1:05 am #205301 Pecospete666Participant Blisschick that was fucking terrific! December 19, 2012 at 10:07 pm #205358 Pecospete666Participant PECOSPETE Favorite place “Brewery” High Point Brewing Co. :: ramsteinbeer.com http://www.ramsteinbeer.com/ High Point Brewing Co. – 22 Park Place, Butler New Jersey. December 19, 2012 at 10:52 pm #205361 PhilParticipant Pecos Pete I’ll be in New Jersey next week. Enjoy my old stomping grounds! December 19, 2012 at 11:06 pm #205362 Pecospete666Participant Phil if you go to the brewery I will spot you a growler! Just tell Greg PECOSPETE sent you! I will be on the road then! His hours are on the website! Enjoy December 26, 2012 at 9:01 pm #205487 Pecospete666Participant On the road again! Hurricane Pete blows into Atlantic City N.J. Pip has decided to stay with my ex I will miss her dearly! PECOSPETE sheds a tear! She is a fearless faithful companion. She’s in good hands, Adios PiP! We will meet again before the “last roundup” It’s raining and blowing like a hurricane so I have no good pics of A.C. But here’s the lobby of the Tropicana, maybe tomorrow this storm will gone. A.C. Is like Blackpool, casinos on the sea. Down to the craps table later, I hope there is a 5$ table, Box Cars & Hardway 6&8. December 26, 2012 at 9:19 pm #205488 PhilParticipant I think they got rid of the $5 tables…or they did for a while at least. Not sure why but I can safely say that casino magnates are better businessmen than I’ll ever be so what do I know. Hopefully they’re back and you can have some fun. The best thing about $5 tables is that you can still lose your entire traveling budget there, but you don’t realize it until afterward. Or maybe that was just me… Also my friend used to work at the Tropicana as a lifeguard. He invited me to drop by one day and just hang out, but I decided not to. That day Bob Dylan showed up and went for a swim. I’ve never forgiven myself. Moral of this story, Pecospete, is go to the pool and DONT LEAVE UNTIL BOB DYLAN SHOWS UP TO GO FOR A SWIM. December 27, 2012 at 1:08 am #205496 clemParticipant I’m a lifeguard. The most famous person I’ve ever had in my pool, as far as I know anyway, is Duncan Goodhew. December 27, 2012 at 3:32 am #205498 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I was once saved from drowning by a gorgeous lifeguard who I made love to in nineteen different positions. I’M NOT LYING. December 27, 2012 at 4:16 am #205500 BlisschickParticipant I believe you. Really, I do…not. December 27, 2012 at 2:30 pm #205505 Pecospete666Participant I could not believe the name of this candy store! At the Tropicana! I asked the sales girl how much and she said “for you or for me?” December 28, 2012 at 1:10 am #205516 Pecospete666Participant Here’s the best I could do for A.C. The weather was crap,I lost 140$ but got the best clams on the half shell ever! The casino is the Revel newest one there! December 28, 2012 at 4:43 pm #205521 MANI506Participant I went swimming with Duncan Goodhew when I was ten. We played ‘what’s the time Mr Shark?’ at Maidstone Leosure Centre. When Duncan said ‘it’s dinner time!’ he tried to grab our legs. I don’t think sports celebrities would do that now. December 28, 2012 at 11:57 pm #205525 clemParticipant He was at ours with BBC Look North to promote a charity swim event. Seemed like a nice bloke. December 30, 2012 at 7:06 pm #205531 Pecospete666Participant I getting closer Blisschick! Texas on Tues or Wed! Interstate 10 right thru to Tuscon AZ December 30, 2012 at 9:12 pm #205533 Ben PaddonParticipant Ooh, hashbrowns. I take it all pack, Pecospete. You’re alright. December 30, 2012 at 10:47 pm #205534 BlisschickParticipant Straight south of me, Pete. When you go through Houston, wave north when you pass Hwy 59. December 31, 2012 at 3:11 am #205535 Pecospete666Participant Pecos’s favorite “Rice Pudding” This was South Carolina, resting in Tuscaloosa Alabama, Mobile AL tomorrow looking at property!
