Nova 5 reused as a Space Base in the largely lost media Space Vets. 

Were they space veterans or space veterinarians?

Second one. It was the closest thing to Junior Red Dwarf, on kids’ TV in the early 90s (I saw Space Vets first). It was okay.

Previously discussed elsewhere, maybe the Io domed city could be another candidate for the top of the Dalek Emperor’s head in The Parting of the Ways (“the perspex dome was left over from a Red Dwarf project”), since they seem to have similar holes.

This is a book and is also real life but I was reading about Moscow’s historical intelligence operations where they would send spies to spy on people but then also needed spies to spy on those spies and then further spies to spy on THOSE spies until they needed, like, 400 million people and I thought that sounded very Grant Maylor.

 I can’t find my copy now, but Mogworld by Yahtzee Croshaw has a scene where the main character meets two warring groups of Dwarves, who’s conflict is nicked from the cats in Dwarf – they have a religion which is the same except for hat colours or something. There were some other jokes which felt cheekily nicked (or at least heavily inspired) by stuff like Discworld and Monty Python too. Having said that, it was a funny novel and I enjoyed it.

Maybe it’s influenced, or just similar satire about how differences between things like the Catholic and Protestant branches of Christianity can seem insignificant/pointless from the outside.
