Ah, I remember this from the time! Completely forgotten about it, though. Yeah, it’s just a celebratory thing, really, in much the same way Perfect Day was.

That is a really, really weird set they’re on, isn’t it? The VIII bunkroom set, but… not. At all. Why the fuck would they change it? Was the proper set not completed at the time, or something?

The set was long-since dismantled by the time that was made. But you’ll notice that nobody is on their actual sets – in fact their almost all shot on location. (Hmm, Tubbs and Edward’s shop might be, actually.) But otherwise it’s all similar-looking places…and nowhere looks like a Bibby set. Especially not that CBBC-looking place.

Don’t have any problem with Howard’s prison garb; never did…but Rimmer’s hair looks bizarre. I seem to remember we asked about this ad for the VIII DVD and, like Bohemian Rhapsody, the volume of big names meant we couldn’t get it. And I don’t think the guys recorded the whole gag – just their line,

The whole thing with the lookalike sets is really rather strange. Good ad, though. Love how Spike completely steals it.
