Personally, I loved it. Maybe I’m just so thrilled to have more Partridge but I always love it when Alan is keen to make a good impression. Not as good as Scissored Isle, so far, but lots of potential.

Admittedly, there’s little of live show Partridge I get on with – came around on the Milky Bar Kid eventually – but the audience didn’t seem to be getting much out of Stratagem either.

Yeah, there are long sections where the audience is totally silent, especially during the songs.

Overall the whole thing has a real back-of-a-fag-packet feel, loads of weird random sketches that don’t add up to anything coherent and don’t follow any kind of internal logic.

A shame as I think This Time and the Oasthouse podcast have been pretty good quality.

Just finished the new Partridge series. Plenty of amusing moments throughout, though it really got going in episode 3 for me. Edmonds continues to catch strays. Lynne deployed perfectly.

Plus a cameo from everyone’s favourite karma pod victim.

The whole jetpack sequence was probably the most instantly iconic bit and has popped into my mind and made me laugh a few times since. It’d take a rewatch to pick more highlights from the ambience. Grasping the nettle, God/bat confusion, ‘Rash Decision’ and Simon generally, A.I. Alan…

A few confrontations with variably unreasonable bar staff, baristas and lawyers felt more like Curb Your Enthusiasm, but done in an Alan way.

That was the highlight of ep 2, for sure.

I’ll definitely be re-watching at some point. There were so many good bits that I feel deserve my further attention. So much of IAP is seared into my brain, due to having re-watched endlessly as a younger man. Because of all the usual factors, most media is kind of one-and-done now, there’s just too many things I want to watch, and not enough time. But I’ll actively look forward to seeing this again.

Watched the first 2 eps last night, really liked them, modern Alan trying to be ‘woke’ is the best thing for the character I think. My favourite part so far is the ‘session’ with Simon.
