Somebody in the chat room mentioned Red Dwarf between games, so I took the opportunity to plug G&T. Someone piped up to say they love the site. It turned out to be none other than new boy locusceruleus. Hooray! October 19, 2008 at 9:46 pm #86225 Pete Part ThreeParticipant Probably not that surprising but Richard Herring posted a link on his website the other day to http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8bX7eT3Yfuw. The description links to your article on it, Ian. October 20, 2008 at 12:11 am #86226 ChrisMParticipant Speaking of a small world: I know a young lady who told me her mum was proposed to by Craig Charles. Apparently he was very drunk at the time. (This was way back before his Dwarf days.) My friend is well into her twenties.) If I’d met her via a Red Dwarf related event, I guess it wouldn’t be so much of a coincidence (i.e. her mother’s history could have sparked an interest in the show etc.) but actually I met her at my last job (she was my manager)! We kept in touch after I left (she left a short while afterward too) and I happened to mention the show when we were having dinner a few weeks back. October 20, 2008 at 7:05 am #86228 TheLeenParticipant My friend’s girlfriend’s aunt (I think) is said to have one-night-standed Chris Barrie. Apparently, she had no idea, but someone saw him come down her stairs in the morning. Or maybe someone else who looks exactly like him. Ahem. October 20, 2008 at 8:45 am #86230 ChrisMParticipant Heh. If this stuff were in a book/programme/film/etc people would probably complain of bad writing. In the real world coincidences are pretty common place… or it’s all designed that way. ;) Unless those things got you interested in Dwarf and on the board in the first place of course. Even then, its pretty unlikely stuff. October 21, 2008 at 5:36 am #86244 hummingbirdParticipant >her mum was proposed to by Craig Charles >is said to have one-night-standed Chris Barrie I feel like I’m reading the tabloids circa fifteen years ago October 21, 2008 at 10:55 am #86245 PhilParticipant My grandfather was raped by Norman Lovett. October 21, 2008 at 11:25 am #86246 Pete Part ThreeParticipant A friend of mine got VIP tickets to a Ultimate Fighting Championship event at the Wembley arena through a client at work. Despite having little interest in such frivolities, I went along to quaff free champagne. There was a private party after it and, lo and behold, there was Danny John Jules. He’s quite a fan of UFC, apparently. October 21, 2008 at 12:46 pm #86247 Jonathan CappsKeymaster I once met Ian Symes while I was waiting for Ian Symes outside a train station in West London. Weird. October 21, 2008 at 3:53 pm #86248 ChrisMParticipant If you’d been waiting outside the wrong West London train station… that would be… Reminds me of something I heard once, about someone calling a friend or relative. They accidentally dialed the wrong number which happened to be a phone box. A box, that the other person happened to be passing… I think that one might be an urban legend though. October 21, 2008 at 4:37 pm #86249 Jonathan CappsKeymaster I remember that being on that Phillip Schofield ‘Weird but True’ type show in the mid 90s. God, I loved that show. October 21, 2008 at 4:38 pm #86250 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Ah, it was One in a Million! October 21, 2008 at 5:11 pm #86251 Danny StephensonKeymaster Aye, I remember that one, they dialed the payroll number and not the phone number of the person who was walking by the phone. October 22, 2008 at 11:53 pm #86269 Ben PaddonParticipant Danny John Jules was at an old co-worker’s sister’s wedding. Or so I’m told. One of the guys who works at the Waterstone’s in Luton claims to have once been involved with the Official Fan Club in some capacity. Thin, bald bloke. I forget his name. Besides that, and a few emails with Andrew about Jump Leads, I’ve not met or had any involvement with anyone from the world of Red Dwarf. I have met Johnny Depp during a recording session for Disney Character Voices about a year and a bit ago, but he was only in The Fast Show so he doesn’t count. October 23, 2008 at 6:42 am #86273 TheLeenParticipant And the Vicar of Dibbley. October 23, 2008 at 8:12 am #86277 Danny StephensonKeymaster I have met Johnny Depp during a recording session for Disney Character Voices about a year and a bit ago, but he was only in The Fast Show so he doesn?t count. Although, Johnny Deep was in The Fast Show in a scene with Mark Williams, who WAS in Dwarf. So you’re one away. October 23, 2008 at 6:47 pm #86287 Ben PaddonParticipant The “six degrees of separation” thing is fascinating, though. Last year I had no links to anyone. Now I can easily Daisy Chain links from myself to some very interesting people (for a given value of “interesting”). I’d write them down if I thought anyone would be interested. I am three degrees away from Kevin Bacon, though, which is mildly amusing. October 23, 2008 at 7:52 pm #86291 TheLeenParticipant Ever since I bumped into Justin Timberlake, I’m probably three degrees away from half of Hollywood… Does it help with anything? I wish. :( October 23, 2008 at 8:08 pm #86292 Danny StephensonKeymaster I’ve met Chris Barrie, who has worked with Angeline Jolie. Phwoar! October 23, 2008 at 11:51 pm #86299 Ben PaddonParticipant Marleen will have her people call your people… Ever since I bumped into Justin Timberlake, I?m probably three degrees away from half of Hollywood? Does it help with anything? I wish. :( I have connections with a lot of people I don’t actually know (such as John Barrowman, Wil Wheaton, Gabe & Tycho) and connections with a lot of people that I do (such as a small list of people I refuse to namedrop). October 24, 2008 at 3:29 am #86303 ChrisMParticipant >I?ve met Chris Barrie, who has worked with Angeline Jolie. Phwoar! What is it, the curly hair or the flared nostrils? She’s not too bad either. If you like that sort of thing. (I do. Very much.) October 24, 2008 at 5:22 am #86305 Ben PaddonParticipant I don’t particularly “get” Angelina Jolie. October 24, 2008 at 6:50 am #86307 TheLeenParticipant > I have connections with a lot of people I don?t actually know (such as John Barrowman, Wil Wheaton, Gabe & Tycho) Cool. Can I have Wil Wheaton’s phone number? October 24, 2008 at 3:07 pm #86335 PhilParticipant >I don?t particularly ?get? Angelina Jolie. Amen brother. She does very little for me as well. I mean, I’d do her just to be able to say I did. But I could use that exact same argument with Bill Murray. October 24, 2008 at 3:21 pm #86338 Jonathan CappsKeymaster She’s got breasts, Phil. Massive, massive breasts. October 24, 2008 at 5:41 pm #86339 ChrisMParticipant Her face is lovely too. I can see how it wouldn’t be some guys’ cups of tea, those lips are an acquired taste, but I kind of like that. Why look the same as everyone else? As for the breasts, I remember seeing an interview some while back when she appeared in the firat Tomb Raider. She stated that her version of Lara Croft was ‘flatter chested and more athletic’ because the game version was “a 36 D” and she is a 36 C. (I think those were the measurements.) I don’t know much about bra sizes, but one alphabet letter? Reminds me of Harry the hippo chatting to his mate at the local water hole saying, “That Ronnie the rhino is a big geezer ain’t ‘e?” I mean, you wouldn’t want a hippo to step on your toe would you? October 24, 2008 at 8:13 pm #86340 Tarka DalParticipant > Amen brother. She does very little for me as well. I mean, I?d do her just to be able to say I did. October 24, 2008 at 9:46 pm #86345 JoParticipant I think Angelina is gorgeous, in fact she’s on my list (along with Alyson Hannigan) October 24, 2008 at 10:28 pm #86346 Smeg4BrainsParticipant >those lips are an acquired taste Those things are blowjob lips. October 25, 2008 at 4:17 am #86351 pfmParticipant A couple of years ago me and my sister were in an aisle right in front of Matt Lucas and David Walliams in Manchester HMV. It was when they were doing the Apollo and my sister was going to see them that night but I wasn’t. Guess what she said when she got the nerve to turn around and speak to them – exactly that. Walliams looked at me and said ‘why aren’t you coming?’ and I lamely said ‘I haven’t got a ticket’ and laughed when I should have said something totally random and biting like, for instance, ‘fuck you, Walliams, you big numpty’. Lucas said ‘that’s a shame’ and then they started talking to each other in an obviously *this is over* way but stupidly I just froze and kept looking at them. You know those cringey moments where you don’t know what to do or say even though you’re screaming at your brain to give you something, anything… I wasn’t starstruck by them or anything, if anything they were the ones who made it worse by not moving away themselves, the ignorant twogs. My sister saved the day by saying, amusingly ‘I can’t believe you walk around together, I bet you get recognised more, do you?’ and Walliams said ‘it’s him, not me’ pointing at Lucas ‘I blend into the background’ or something like that. Then they did just go, thank god. Thinking about it it WAS absolutely mental that they were walking around together. Everyone was looking at them. Talk about arrogant! October 25, 2008 at 9:51 am #86353 Ian SymesKeymaster I think Angelina is gorgeous, in fact she?s on my list (along with Alyson Hannigan) I’m Ian Symes, and I approve of this message.
