This new show is good so far.

The sets are beautiful. Whichever company made them should be drafted into our [fantasy, idealist, perfect] Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers Netflix series.

Looks like some quality creative stagnation.

A few minutes in so far and one of the characters is named Petrovitch. Bet he’s a VR drug dealer?

It does feel like it’s trying a bit too hard though.

    Really enjoying it.

Please tell me that there will be a behind the scenes video where Adrian Edmondson is seen to twat a fully grown xenomorph in it’s long bonce with a frying pan, and then Michael Smiley will do the tyres dance in the background in celebration of it’s downfall, before walking off into the atmospheric crash smoke.

What the show that two episodes in has new creatures, and is only copying the ship to match timeline setting before being set on “Earth”. Dont think so.

Where all the characters are from Peter pan…. oh right yeah, ^ what he said, a bit, yeah.

I wouldn’t care even if it was stagnation. It’s a gorgeous design.

Why do they have large panel lights in some areas but millions of fairy lights in the computer room (that seem to always need the bulbs changing)? Unless they’re supposed to be part of the computer, like the lights that are totally a computer in Star Trek II.

I’m aware this is a forum for the show that used coloured stickers to represent drive room controls, these designs just seem immersion-breakingly silly even for the time.

This is fair once we get past the ship bit. Certainly is less a re-tread than Romulous wss.

So Petrovich did turn out to be a wrong’un.

And I am sure this has been noted elsewhere, but Boy Cavalier is just an amoral version of L from Death Note…

What about Kirsh, eh? Just pure pragmatic ‘none of these people are important, so I’m just going to let things play out in the interest of scientific curiosity’, or has BK and/or Morrow pushed him into active ‘burn’ em all to the ground’ mode, out of resentment at his obsolescence?

I like the way they’re playing so heavily on the Peter Pan stuff to disguise the fact that this is actually a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story – five kids, with a kooky benefactor testing them, possibly to see who becomes his heir? There’s even a line a couple of episodes that references kids having access to “worlds of pure imagination” or something similar.

I’m really enjoying it anyway, this week’s episode and last week’s have been almost like Alien mini-movies. I’m rooting for the eyeball.

Meaning Timothy Olyphant is an Oompa Loompa, or something.

Second ep in a row the eyeball has helped ruin everyone’s day by banging on glass. What might he get up to next week…

We need an eyeball spinoff series where he goes from place to place, ruining people’s days by banging on their windows. Al-eye-en: Earth.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the deliberate homage flashback episode was the best of the lot.

It had its moments, but there were a few leaps of logic that were a little hard to swallow (mostly around characters making absurd choices, or not doing obvious things).

The finale was a bit of a damp squib, it screamed ‘renew us for season 2!’. At this point, I’m not feeling particularly enthused for more… but then I followed The Walking Dead to the bitter end, years after it became as much of a husk as its titular antagonists, and this isn’t that.
