This morning BBC Video and distributor Warner Home Video have announced that this title is coming out on October 6th, in both standard DVD and high defintion [sic] Blu-ray Disc. July 1, 2009 at 8:50 pm #100616 JamesTCParticipant Enjoy! The commentaries are the best of the range. July 1, 2009 at 9:35 pm #100620 Squeaky GibsonParticipant finally a Blu-ray release date, must admit i’m tempted to hold of getting the dvd release and go straight to Blu-ray instead. July 1, 2009 at 9:40 pm #100621 JamesTCParticipant But you won’t get a DVD that looks like the one in the show! July 1, 2009 at 9:42 pm #100622 JamesParticipant Why wouldn’t they? I’m sure they’ll use the same design, just with added Blu-Ray on the front. July 1, 2009 at 9:45 pm #100623 JamesTCParticipant Can you have Blu-Ray in the same style, I have only ever seen boxsets in the slip case style, all other releases are in normal blue cases. July 1, 2009 at 9:49 pm #100625 JamesParticipant Dark Knight was in a cardboard slip case, as is Valkyrie, and quite a few others. From the outside it would look the same. July 1, 2009 at 9:52 pm #100626 Squeaky GibsonParticipant seems there’s no problem then. just you that once blu-ray discs comes out the dvd will go from ?13 to ?6 in matter of days…of course if it goes down in a sale might get it then. July 2, 2009 at 8:46 am #100647 Jonathan CappsKeymaster God, I hope the Blu-Ray release doesn’t have that god awful blue border around the cover. July 2, 2009 at 9:55 am #100649 Bob LoblawParticipant Will be getting the Blu as long as it’s region free, which all previous BBC Warner releases have been so far. July 2, 2009 at 10:26 am #100650 Seb PatrickKeymaster The Blue Dwarf people are gonna go nuts. July 2, 2009 at 11:05 am #100651 Ian SymesKeymaster They already are nuts. July 2, 2009 at 1:17 pm #100655 SomebodyParticipant > God, I hope the Blu-Ray release doesn?t have that god awful blue border around the cover. Isn’t that packaging a mandatory part of the Blu-Ray spec? July 2, 2009 at 1:39 pm #100657 JamesTCParticipant Not on boxsets, I don’t know about regular releases. July 2, 2009 at 2:35 pm #100658 Jonathan CappsKeymaster > Isn?t that packaging a mandatory part of the Blu-Ray spec? I’d guess so, but it doesn’t mean it wont be scrapped when they realise that reinforcing the brand isn’t worth ruining DVD covers. Or when it’s thought that people don’t need to be cock slapped round the face in order to be aware that Blu-Ray exists. July 2, 2009 at 5:46 pm #100664 Mr FlibbleParticipant Or that no-one wants to buy Blu-ray. July 2, 2009 at 6:31 pm #100667 p2p_productionsParticipant VERY rough mock-up, but I guess the blue border BR edition might look something like this… July 2, 2009 at 7:22 pm #100673 Ben PaddonParticipant I actually really like that. July 2, 2009 at 8:36 pm #100679 JamesTCParticipant They should put Blu-Midget instead of Blu-ray disc on the top. July 2, 2009 at 8:53 pm #100680 p2p_productionsParticipant I’m still holding out for the triangular VHS release, myself. July 2, 2009 at 10:52 pm #100681 pfmParticipant Blu-ray? Blue gay. July 2, 2009 at 11:02 pm #100683 JamesTCParticipant Yeh, HD-DVD is were it’s at! I mean Blu-Rays are like ?20 each and HD-DVDs are about ?4 each. July 2, 2009 at 11:04 pm #100684 Ben PaddonParticipant You could’ve gone with Poo-ray. July 2, 2009 at 11:13 pm #100686 pfmParticipant Or Poo-gay. July 3, 2009 at 6:54 am #100694 Pete Part ThreeParticipant >Yeh, HD-DVD is were it?s at! I mean Blu-Rays are like ?20 each and HD-DVDs are about ?4 each. Good luck with that. July 3, 2009 at 10:01 am #100699 JamesTCParticipant You do know I was joking? July 3, 2009 at 10:13 am #100704 Pete Part ThreeParticipant As was I. July 3, 2009 at 11:17 am #100710 littlesmeggerParticipant I actually prefer the HD-DVD format, which only lost cause of the money Sony pumped into it and the number of companies it had exclusive rights to. I’ve watched a few things like Planet Earth in both formats, and HD-DVD looks much better. Shame really… July 3, 2009 at 11:20 am #100712 Seb PatrickKeymaster >I?m still holding out for the triangular VHS release, myself. July 3, 2009 at 12:26 pm #100719 JamesTCParticipant When does the Red Dwarf toblerone go on sale? July 3, 2009 at 1:56 pm #100721 p2p_productionsParticipant & July 3, 2009 at 2:22 pm #100722 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Quality.
