Break a Red Dwarf Episode

Seems like a decent forum game. Take a Red Dwarf episode (or hell, the show itself) and make minor changes that completely ruin the plot – preferably by bringing into play previously established rules of the show that it chooses to ignore.

“Lister should just go back into stasis until they get to Earth” is preemptively banned from play.

I’ll start.

RIMMERWORLD: Rimmer, just turn yourself off and let them switch you on when they get there. Even if you’re afraid of not being turned back on, I’d be more scared of 600 years alone than death.

BLUE: More of a stretch, but couldn’t you make _another_ Rimmer? Presumably, you have a copy of his disc and it’s not like light bees were an especially rare technology.

Lister easily kills the polymorph while it’s in the form of a sausage, because it’s in the form of a sausage.

Rimmer couldn’t keep his disc with his box behind the solar panel outside the sleeping quarters because Rimmer’s disc should be in his box on the ship powering him!

Therefore Lister find Kochanski in Confidence and Paranoia and an entirely new episode emerges to finish the series off.

NANARCHY

Nanobots have no need to steal an entire 5mile long ship to go exporing, in fact they even leave most of it behind in the form of a moon of all things, so they could have just stolen tiny little parts of everything and left Red Dwarf 99.999% intact and useable.

Even if they did steal Red Dwarf, the explanation they decided to hide in Lister’s washing basket, considering they’d always had a lead on them, is nuts. Not only that, Kryten regularly does Lister’s washing, so them “exploring holes in his socks” should have come to a very quick end.

Basically, Doug broke this episode himself, it make no-sense.

Also, why would male Holly be a feature of the moon? Why doesn’t turning Red Dwarf into a moon turn Holly back into a male AI. And, why isn’t Holly capable of remaining onboard Starbug after Back to Reality… plenty of occasions where they venture away from Red Dwarf and she doesn’t suddenly disappear.

Finally, why do birds, suddenly appear every time Cat is near?

As a mechanoid controlled by his programing, and way beyond the technology of anything the nano-reborn Dwarf crew have seen, Kryten is not put on the prison deck but handed over to the top minds on the ship to be examined and questioned, and therefore can not film the women.

Without Rimmer Lister goes insane, and spends the rest of the series under sedation in a therapeutic room on Starbug.

Lister goes back into the deep sleep unit and comes out a few weeks later when they find yet another derelict with enough curry to keep him happy for a couple of years.

The unreality bubbles work and ward off the Red Dwarf crew, they turn back and don’t pick up the time drive.

The Promised Land

The Crew leave the ship after Holly says he is gonna fly the ship into a black hole and destroy the ship. so they leave travelling around for 3 weeks. Holly destroys Red Dwarf like he said he would. the crew meet the cats, crash on the planet and are stuck there… the end.

Or a better one. Rimmer tricks Holly into using a back up early in the episode and they never meet the cat race… the end.
