Anyone up for playing? Nearest I came (without going down the obvious “celebrity names” route) was two scenes with ‘Medium’. Lemoplathinominecathorylite and cesiumfrancolithicmixialibidiumrixydixydoxydexydroxide. (OK, OK, I know these don’t really count.) A double – libido and drought. Offspring, village, and weathergirl. Not to burst your bubble, but… August 16, 2025 at 2:13 am #310071 clemParticipant Does it still count if it’s said twice in the same unedited caption? Another example of that: August 16, 2025 at 5:33 am #310074 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant The very first line of the show if you don’t count descriptions August 16, 2025 at 5:35 am #310075 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Carousel August 16, 2025 at 7:30 am #310078 Flap JackParticipant Not to burst your bubble, but… Hey, I don’t see “weathergirl” in that caption. What, you don’t trust the Smega-Drive to know the difference? August 16, 2025 at 7:54 pm #310081 TechnopeasantParticipant One is a girl into weather, the other is a girl made of weather. August 16, 2025 at 8:57 pm #310082 WarbodogParticipant I sometimes need three Smega Drive frames to pick up on the casual sexism in Red Dwarf and society. “Weather girl” ffs! August 16, 2025 at 9:21 pm #310084 TechnopeasantParticipant “Barmen” August 16, 2025 at 9:27 pm #310085 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Is Arthur Smith really saying “Jingle Bells” here? Is backward and forwards count as their own unique whacks, then jingle and bells are both August 16, 2025 at 10:46 pm #310086 Ben SaundersParticipant jags, milky August 16, 2025 at 11:26 pm #310087 DaveParticipant milky August 17, 2025 at 1:54 pm #310098 Danny StephensonKeymaster You all surprise me by what you use the SmegaDrive for! August 18, 2025 at 1:48 am #310104 MoonlightParticipant Danny invents the alphabet and he’s surprised people are writing deranged things with it. How odd. That bit isn’t even reversed though is it? I mean he just does it manually, as it were, like ‘Erskip’ for bitter. So did Arthur Smith/Rob and Doug work out what ‘jingle bells’ sounds like backwards, and put it in just as a weird non sequitur. Or is it just a strange coincidence that the best way to say ‘Same again’ backwards is to say jingle bells? Edit: That wouldn’t make sense, because of course he doesn’t say jingle bells, not forwards anyway. Might have to check Backwards – Forwards to see what it actually sounds like. August 18, 2025 at 5:09 pm #310112 Ian SymesKeymaster Yeah, Arthur Smith can sing Jingle Bells backwards. Exhibit A: https://youtu.be/amTL_JkN81E?t=571 August 18, 2025 at 5:31 pm #310113 clemParticipant Well, what a poor sad life HE’S got. Bollocks to him! Exhibit A: https://youtu.be/amTL_JkN81E?t=571 That’s all well and good. But that isn’t what he says in the episode. as Clem points out it’s Arthur saying Erskib, not “bitter” reversed August 18, 2025 at 8:15 pm #310116 PodeyParticipant Communion Surely “splash-a”, too? August 18, 2025 at 8:20 pm #310117 clemParticipant Surely “splash-a”, too? But hey, you invented the game so if you say it counts then it counts :) August 19, 2025 at 9:16 am #310123 Ian SymesKeymaster That’s all well and good. But that isn’t what he says in the episode. as Clem points out it’s Arthur saying Erskib, not “bitter” reversed We’re getting confused between two different lines in the same bit. When Lister asks what he’s drinking, he does indeed say “erskib”. But then when he’s undowned his pint, he says to the barmaid the words “jingle bells” backwards, which is subtitled as “same again”. I will admit to being a bit of a smart-arse here with this, but after finding out that the Smegadrive/subs are being used legitimately for the hard of hearing. I may have to stop pulling this shit. August 19, 2025 at 11:21 pm #310136 RunawayTrainParticipant … but after finding out that the Smegadrive/subs are being used legitimately for the hard of hearing. what did you think they were for? August 20, 2025 at 12:56 am #310137 TechnopeasantParticipant Pigeon Also “clay” I think you’ll find. August 20, 2025 at 5:10 am #310139 TechnopeasantParticipant And indeed “perched”. August 25, 2025 at 5:40 am #310339 clemParticipant Debatable. You don’t get that by searching for ‘jackass’. Isn’t that the game, as per Podey’s original post? The word ‘porter’ only appears once, here: But searching for it also brings up several instances of ‘teleporter’ and ‘transporter’, so it’s not a true Smeglewhack, I’d argue. They only say it once, as in, “Transmit the Armageddon Virus!” Also, dingleberry from Backwards. A very specific, one-time insult. August 26, 2025 at 6:23 pm #310388 PodeyParticipant This isn’t ‘Countdown’ (hell, we ain’t even ‘Cats Does Countdown’!), proper nouns are in. August 26, 2025 at 9:50 pm #310396 Renegade RobParticipant You get two for one with a single quote: potpourri and depilatory.
