Is there anyone still in the fandom who saw the classic episodes live?

I would have thought that anyone who was in the audience for one of the classic episodes from the first 5/6 series would have positions of honour in the Dwarf fandom. Imagine knowing someone who’s laughter can actually be heard in the video for “Back to Reality” or even “The End”. I’ve never seen anyone online mention it though.

I mean yeah, but I also feel like the audience members in those early episodes must be at least pushing 50 by now, and that’s on the youngest end. A lot of the old guard fans on G&T sound like they were kids when the first six series were airing but then they were young and tech-savvy enough to hop into the online fandom in the late 90s / early 2000s when that was the hot new place to build communities.

Meanwhile, I was a baby when Series VII aired.

I find it funny that the de facto promotional shots you see for Red Dwarf in basically anything have been Series X’s for about the last 14 years. Begging people to stop using that Kryten mask whenever they talk about Robert.

Holly was still a voice over until at least Waiting for God right? And then they did reshoots (many picked up in the 7th week The End reshoots) to include him when they decided to go that route later

I saw episode 2 on air first broadcast on television and I’ve pushed past fifty. Didn’t see an audience record though until Entangled.
