However, I was wondering if series VIII setting would have been like; I can imagine the boys from the dwarf would indeed find their mothership as per Doug’s VIII. But I believe the prison setting would never have come to light. Doug wanted to make series VIII remarkably different from the average VII, and he brought these changes in his stride, however had Rob never left, VII would have been a much more enjoyable beast indeed. Therefore VIII would not have to go back to basics to rekindle fans love of the show. What are your opinions on VIII setting had Rob stayed on? August 1, 2007 at 7:44 pm #124242 pfmParticipant Probably VIII would have fucking been set in the fucking Dark Ages or some shit. > the boys from the dwarf would indeed find their mothership Don’t know about a mothership, maybe a motherfucker. That would have been better. August 3, 2007 at 1:49 pm #124264 TonguetiedParticipant Dark ages? Are you being serious? August 3, 2007 at 3:11 pm #124267 pfmParticipant > Dark ages? Are you being serious? Serious? Do you mean Sirius Black? August 3, 2007 at 3:12 pm #124268 Seb PatrickKeymaster You’ll know if performingmonkey’s being serious, because he’ll be dead. I think it was one of these “joke” things, based on the fact that Rob’s first post-Dwarf project was a godawful sitcom set in… the dark ages. Called… The Dark Ages. August 3, 2007 at 3:26 pm #124270 pfmParticipant I was just trying to be funny and failing miserably as always, making myself out to be someone who sucks at life. Now, unless my girlfriend’s real first name is ‘Life’, I know I don’t suck at it. Incidentally, I’ve just realised, this very moment, I kid you not, how simply idiotic it is that my name is ‘performingmonkey’. I mean, how sad’s that? August 3, 2007 at 8:43 pm #124291 John HoareParticipant Didn’t you use to call yourself something else ages ago? I vaguely remember you doing – but can’t remember what… August 3, 2007 at 8:44 pm #124292 Danny StephensonKeymaster To be honest, I saw that comment and did a lol, so well done. August 4, 2007 at 12:20 am #124303 pfmParticipant > I vaguely remember you doing – but can?t remember what? It was probably ‘overmydeadbody’ which I used to use on various forums. ‘performingmonkey’ is a stupid pseudonym I’ve used for recordings/writings that I don’t want my actual name on. August 4, 2007 at 12:26 am #124304 PhilParticipant Forget the name…I want to know the story behind the avatar. August 4, 2007 at 12:45 am #124306 pfmParticipant > I want to know the story behind the avatar Here partway down. August 4, 2007 at 1:10 am #124308 PhilParticipant Jesus horse-ass fucking wow. August 4, 2007 at 9:30 pm #124320 Danny StephensonKeymaster “Small monkeys are trained to perform various tricks on stage” ‘Hey, you monkeys eat off the floor? ain’t you got no style or sophistication?’ August 5, 2007 at 2:10 am #124322 pfmParticipant > ?Hey, you monkeys eat off the floor? ain?t you got no style or sophistication?? Thankyou for bringing Red Dwarf back into this thread! Incidentally, don’t assume I actually condone the training of monkeys for use in monkey theatre. Training them to play tennis though is a worthwhile and considerably rewarding pastime. Also, teaching them to wank you off (someone really did that, I remember reading about it). Anyway, Red Dwarf… August 5, 2007 at 11:46 am #124327 PhilParticipant I definitely think the G+T team should pool their resources and invest in a monkey theater in which the performers will re-enact classic Red Dwarf scripts. August 5, 2007 at 3:51 pm #124331 Danny StephensonKeymaster Who the hell told you about our Simian Smegheads? We can’t keep anything a secret in this place can we? We managed to get them do to the bit where Rimmer impersonates a monkey, but that’s as far as we’ve got. We’re getting there. They’re rehearing their lines at the moment… August 5, 2007 at 3:53 pm #124332 PhilParticipant >Simian Smegheads I laughed out loud at that. And I’m not happy about it. August 5, 2007 at 9:22 pm #124338 TonguetiedParticipant So what are your thoughts on VIII alternate setting Phil? August 5, 2007 at 9:35 pm #124339 Seb PatrickKeymaster Why Phil and not anyone else? August 5, 2007 at 11:42 pm #124343 PhilParticipant BECAUSE I’M SMARTER NOW BACK OFF.
