I bring this up just in-case any of the old stuff isn’t going to be on there when it’s back up. (old blog post, features & some of the RD Movie Storyboards) Unless some of that has been saved by one of you dwarfers out there. March 7, 2022 at 7:53 pm #272166 DaveParticipant I saw the message a while back so was a bit surprised when I checked in last Friday and it still wasn’t back. Maybe Rob has a new website coming out of his buttski too? March 7, 2022 at 8:12 pm #272168 Niki HutchinsonParticipant Hey, if you don’t try. Fair enough March 7, 2022 at 8:22 pm #272170 Niki HutchinsonParticipant I saw the message a while back so was a bit surprised when I checked in last Friday and it still wasn’t back. Maybe Rob has a new website coming out of his buttski too? Who knows… But for the moment, like any other official bit of RD news. March 7, 2022 at 10:09 pm #272173 Flap JackParticipant Us all discovering TOS has been down for weeks like (Appreciating the revamped Smega-Drive footer btw!) Where on Earth is that ship model picture from? March 10, 2022 at 11:51 am #272239 DaveParticipant Where on Earth is that ship model picture from? I’ve definitely seen that CGI model floating around for years, but I’m not sure where it originated. Weird that they’d use something (presumably) unofficial and fan made. Still, at least it’s marginally better than the one on the Blu Ray box art. March 10, 2022 at 12:30 pm #272240 WarbodogParticipant It’s not really my area, or any of my business, but it looks like that domain’s been owned since at least 1999 as a placeholder and they’ve just decided to start using it. March 10, 2022 at 12:45 pm #272241 siParticipant Well, that’s certainly… a website. Where on Earth is that ship model picture from? I think it’s a poorly ‘restored’ version of an old model shot. I definitely recognise the photo that it’s *supposed* to be. I’m sure it must be online, maybe even on G&T somewhere. I remember first seeing it in an old Smegazine many years ago. If I had time to find a link, I’d plonk it here, but I’m sure there are other folks who know exactly what I’m on about, and will go and do just that. March 10, 2022 at 5:15 pm #272245 GlenTokyoParticipant That ship picture makes that site look proper pony. Not to say anything of the image, just you’d think GNP would get an actual photo of the ship. That picture looks like a Deviantart special to me, there are other ones floating around the internet that look of a similar vintage, done on things like 3DS Max 2 and Lightwave. They’re late 90s/early 2000s. I usually check TOS every Friday but clearly completely forgot for the last few weeks, so I too missed it. Hope it comes back intact. March 10, 2022 at 9:07 pm #272251 MoonlightParticipant This? It’s 100% an old deviantart render. I’d know it anywhere. March 10, 2022 at 9:16 pm #272252 siParticipant Ah, this is the pic I’m thinking of. March 10, 2022 at 9:44 pm #272253 DaveParticipant Yes, it certainly feels like it’s based on that. March 10, 2022 at 10:20 pm #272254 International DebrisParticipant It has the same issues as the pencil in that it doesn’t feel like there’s much sticking out of it, whereas the original model was very heavily textured. March 10, 2022 at 10:31 pm #272255 RunawayTrainParticipant It’s not really my area, or any of my business, but it looks like that domain’s been owned since at least 1999 as a placeholder and they’ve just decided to start using it. It’s looked like that for a couple of years at least (can’t quite remember when I first visited it). The Wayback Machine shows it was certainly a placeholder until 2016, then the captures in 2018 and 2021 are broken links – but I definitely visited when I first got back into Red Dwarf, before the pandemic. March 11, 2022 at 1:23 am #272257 MoonlightParticipant Me and Cappsy found that link not long ago and dug into it a bit and it’s clearly only become recently active. March 11, 2022 at 1:26 am #272258 Stephen AbootmanParticipant “Please note that regretfully we cannot currently accept unsolicited scripts for consideration.” What if they haven’t updated that part of the site in a while but since changed their minds and the only reason Dwarf isn’t being made right now is the lack of unsolicited scripts? March 11, 2022 at 2:22 am #272259 MoonlightParticipant I’m sending them a couple pages of script I wrote at age 13. It’s really good according to my memories from the time. March 11, 2022 at 6:44 am #272260 loadoftottnumbParticipant I wonder why it says ‘since 1990’? Were the first few series produced by someone else or is it just a minor error? March 11, 2022 at 6:49 am #272263 WarbodogParticipant They at least had producer credits from series III in 1989. March 11, 2022 at 7:25 am #272264 DaveParticipant I wonder why it says ‘since 1990’? Were the first few series produced by someone else or is it just a minor error? GNP the company wasn’t formed immediately – it was produced by PJP from the start all the way through Series III wasn’t it. Camille is the first episode to have the GNP logo at the end instead. The information from Companies House shows 8 February 1990 as the start date. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02468538 March 11, 2022 at 12:31 pm #272265 siParticipant “Please note that regretfully we cannot currently accept unsolicited scripts for consideration.” What if they haven’t updated that part of the site in a while but since changed their minds and the only reason Dwarf isn’t being made right now is the lack of unsolicited scripts? Therefore, pitches and ideas must be fair game. March 11, 2022 at 1:55 pm #272268 DaveParticipant It’s finally Bread Wharf’s time to shine! March 11, 2022 at 7:16 pm #272273 Future Producer of Series IX – aaaaany day nowParticipant So who wants to phone up Reg and tell him? March 12, 2022 at 8:04 am #272279 loadoftottnumbParticipant Makes sense, thanks I wonder why it says ‘since 1990’? Were the first few series produced by someone else or is it just a minor error? I tried messing with the width attribute at one point when I was doing a sequence including standard Smega Drive jpgs and gifs, and it worked in the text editor but not after I actually submitted it. I suspect it was either because I was trying non-whole numbers, or because I was scaling in the wrong direction, but it would be good to know for sure. March 13, 2022 at 12:45 pm #272300 siParticipant Side note: seeing Cappsy’s gif in between Future Producer and Dave’s gifs has made me extra curious about the secrets of image resizing. Ah well, it’s Cappsy’s site and he’s clever. That’s what it says here. March 13, 2022 at 1:40 pm #272301 Jonathan CappsKeymaster I have a feeling this editor auto scales the images based on whether you’re on mobile or desktop. It’s annoying and I will fix it. March 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm #272302 Flap JackParticipant Ah! OK, thank you. Could still be an input issue I guess, but best to know either way. It wouldn’t be the weirdest thing if the text editor didn’t allow you to use all the HTML attributes in general, but it would be weird to only stop you some of the time. I have noticed that on mobile still images get squashed so that they’re the same width as gifs, so when you think about it, mobile is the peak Ganymede Dot TV experience. March 13, 2022 at 2:49 pm #272305 Jonathan CappsKeymaster mobile is the peak Ganymede Dot TV experience. How times have changed.
