Are series 1 to VIII still being repeated from time to time on Dave? But no longer appear now on demand after broadcast on UKTVplay streaming app? (X to TPL are of course uktv play streaming app.) Or has series 1 to VIII now become a streaming only option from Britbox in the UK. Is it also on Sky Go &/0r Now tv? is streaming as part of a sub package to those as well? Will it continue to be for long? I know you can buy it via Apple or Prime or possibly google play. It hasn’t aired a series on BBC since 2007, (Marooned 2014) Is this an expanding or contracting situation the show currently finds itself in? Your thoughts please… & yes I just watch my DVD’s you dont have to say that bit. How is brit box doing with it’s uptake, anyone know anything? September 24, 2021 at 7:26 pm #269469 GlenTokyoParticipant I know it’s left Netflix. How is brit box doing with it’s uptake, anyone know anything? I’m subscribed to the Britbox channel through Amazon Prime Video, so I can use the Prime Video apps to watch Red Dwarf, up to Dave era. September 26, 2021 at 7:53 am #269505 loadoftottnumbParticipant You can watch series I-VIII on NowTV with the entertainment pass. September 26, 2021 at 11:45 am #269509 GlenTokyoParticipant With a Sky subscription, you can watch them all, BBC episodes are on demand through UKTV Gold. October 18, 2021 at 3:22 am #269723 GlenTokyoParticipant According to my Amazon Prime video account (UK), Red Dwarf is leaving BritBox in 2 weeks. October 18, 2021 at 9:06 am #269724 DaveParticipant They’re no longer interested in the audience Red Dwarf used to attract etc. October 18, 2021 at 11:01 am #269725 JenuallParticipant Wonder if it will reappear anywhere else if it’s leaving BritBox then? October 18, 2021 at 5:53 pm #269732 Flap JackParticipant The best outcome is that Red Dwarf is removed from all streaming sites, so that people are forced to watch the episodes by taping UK Gold repeats, as Cloister intended. Series 1-III will be the Remastered versions, of course. October 30, 2021 at 10:00 pm #269954 GlenTokyoParticipant Friday came and went with no mention of the UK streaming situation on TOS. Still says leaving October 31st on my BritBox (through Prime Video) I’d like it to be somewhere, I have them physically on three formats, but I’m lazy. October 31, 2021 at 7:48 am #269957 DaveParticipant Idle speculation, but is there any way it could be connected to GNP’s current inability to move forward with any other Dwarf stuff while the legal wranglings are ongoing? October 31, 2021 at 7:59 am #269958 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant I shouldn’t have thought so. Whatever is going on within GNP currently is about who can make more Red Dwarf right? Not who overall has ownership of it. GNP can negotiate distribution rights to its library of content as much as it likes I’d have thought. October 31, 2021 at 9:01 am #269959 DaveParticipant I was wondering whether GNP was able to approve any new deals altogether, given the state of things. October 31, 2021 at 10:26 am #269960 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Maybe they’re not to keep things simpler, but I don’t think there’d be anything stopping them. What even are the state of things anyway? We don’t know much do we. Doug for reasons unknown left GNP, and was possibly pushed out. He claims they owe him money. They claim there’s not actually anything stopping him making more Red Dwarf. That’s about it. Thw truth is probably really banal and just lots of crossed wires and a bit of grievance resulting in some sabre rattling and court stuff that will just take time to smooth out. October 31, 2021 at 12:41 pm #269961 DaveParticipant I think there is stuff stopping him making new Red Dwarf or it’d be under way by now rather than him planning for this non-Dwarf project with the cast instead. You’re right though, we don’t know much about the state of things and the streaming rights stuff could be a completely separate issue. November 5, 2021 at 10:37 am #270010 GlenTokyoParticipant New update on TOS today, see if they say owt. 29th was Polymorph is available in the UK on Apple TV, Now TV, and Britbox. but no mention of it leaving in 2 days. November 5, 2021 at 11:04 am #270011 JenuallParticipant I always forget to check TOS. Interesting to see if they say anything 19 out of 20 in the Polymorph quiz, I’ll take that! :D November 5, 2021 at 11:10 am #270012 DaveParticipant I got 18. I’m always caught out by stuff like that day-of-the-week question. November 5, 2021 at 12:12 pm #270013 WarbodogParticipant 17 out of 20, got 3 of the last 4 wrong. It’s not an episode I’ve particularly watched more than any other, but I did love the medical unit / “it’s clean” scene when I first got the DVD. November 5, 2021 at 12:18 pm #270014 Flap JackParticipant The TOS update did not give any news of streaming availability. It’s all about Craig Charles’ imminent TV projects. Would be kind of funny if they snuck it in though. “Craig Charles, whose Red Dwarf episodes ceased to be available on Britbox at the end of October, is set to host an upcoming Channel 4 gameshow called-“ November 5, 2021 at 4:34 pm #270016 GlenTokyoParticipant I suppose it’s not really a news item they want to publish, especially if they currently can’t do anything about it due to side effects of the legal shenanigans but I just vaguely recall TOS telling us it was leaving Netflix, so I thought they’d mention it. November 5, 2021 at 6:16 pm #270017 Flap JackParticipant I have removed the episodes that were on the Britbox and which you were probably hoping to rewatch Forgive me they were hilarious so fun and so pricey August 1, 2022 at 7:06 am #275566 Flap JackParticipant Rejoice, for the (UK) streaming drought has ended! Red Dwarf Series 1-VIII are now included with Amazon Prime Video. August 1, 2022 at 7:30 am #275568 Flap JackParticipant August 1, 2022 at 9:39 am #275572 FormicaParticipant middle text August 3, 2022 at 12:36 am #275609 RunawayTrainParticipant :O :O :O Prime has a ‘shuffle episodes’ feature!!! Exactly what I’ve been wanting, and resigned myself never to have for RD (my digital copies are mostly series-long). WOW! I think it’s just within each series, BUT STILL! August 8, 2022 at 5:00 pm #275691 Flap JackParticipant Hey, rewatching The End on Blu ray made me curious – is anyone with Amazon Prime able to verify whether they replaced the song in the funeral scene like they did on Netflix? If they did, I’d kind of want them to just choose a new song every time it goes to a new streaming service. Why not. August 8, 2022 at 5:57 pm #275692 DaveParticipant Just checked Amazon Prime and they’ve replaced it with Please Release Me. They have the original audio, not the replacement track. August 8, 2022 at 6:24 pm #275693 Flap JackParticipant Ha, cool, thanks Dave! Good to know they sorted that out. In fact, it not being sorted out might have even been a factor in it being off UK streaming for a while. It’s possible. Also, I totally misread that just now as “Please Please Me”. Now that would have been something. October 29, 2022 at 11:08 am #279007 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant UKTV Play are boasting they have “almost” every episode of Red Dwarf to stream. https://twitter.com/uktvplay/status/1586297540881911808?s=61&t=2tRgwjAH2QTaNVtcPeXIvQ Almost is weird so I had a look. They don’t have Back to Earth. I wonder why that is? Has it not been available on there for a while does anyone know? Is it available anywhere? Is Doug trying to bury it? October 29, 2022 at 12:48 pm #279009 Flap JackParticipant Very weird. Back to Earth being excluded from streaming (unless you pay for it individually) has been something of a trend. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to bury it – it wasn’t that bad. It’s like they accidentally signed some sort of deal for BtE only, which made including it in subscription-or-free streaming either impossible or prohibitively expensive. It’s a glaring omission, because as we all know, Back to Earth is Season 9. October 29, 2022 at 2:18 pm #279010 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant UKTV Play on Twitter said it was a right issue, meaning they can’t get the rights. Which is odd seeing as they made it. Only them and GNP would have the right’s I’d have thought, unless there’s another service out there with only the rights to BtE which sounds absurd and I’ve not seen it. So again, I come back to the question, is someone trying to suppress it because they don’t feel it’s good enough. Which is bonkers when you consider series VII and VIII exist. October 29, 2022 at 3:34 pm #279011 RunawayTrainParticipant So again, I come back to the question, is someone trying to suppress it because they don’t feel it’s good enough. Which is bonkers when you consider series VII and VIII exist. True, but Dave had nothing to do with those two series, so it doesn’t reflect badly on them. October 30, 2022 at 9:52 pm #279047 mstcambotParticipant On US Britbox, Back to Earth is available as a three episode “Season 9” with the making-of special as a fourth episode. I wonder if it was classified as a proper series for international markets but not the UK? October 31, 2022 at 6:05 am #279051 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant It’s classified as season 9 here. It’s just a lot of people are in denial. October 31, 2022 at 7:21 am #279054 DaveParticipant To settle the “is BTE series IX?” debate once and for all, we need to go to the most sensible, level-headed source: http://www.chrisbarrie.co.uk/biography October 31, 2022 at 4:56 pm #279068 HamishParticipant On US Britbox, Back to Earth is available as a three episode “Season 9” with the making-of special as a fourth episode. That was how it was first aired on Dave in 2009 as I recall. October 31, 2022 at 6:58 pm #279070 GlenTokyoParticipant Season 9, definitely not. Series IX, there’s a case for it. October 31, 2022 at 7:05 pm #279071 DaveParticipant Series IX, there’s a case for it. And here it is: November 1, 2022 at 4:21 pm #279101 Ian SymesKeymaster Sudden realisation – the French only called it that because “Dwarf” and “neuf” rhyme in a stereotypical French accent. November 1, 2022 at 4:56 pm #279102 DaveParticipant Red Dwarf in French is actually Nain Rouge, so I bet they bloody love Series XII. November 1, 2022 at 8:09 pm #279104 International DebrisParticipant Is French for 12 “Splooge”? November 1, 2022 at 10:16 pm #279110 GlenTokyoParticipant Series IX, there’s a case for it. And here it is: Why is the background picture the Montague bunkroom on that cover? November 1, 2022 at 11:57 pm #279114 International DebrisParticipant I love the fact that the French DVD states both “Red Dwarf IX” and “Saison IX” as if it’s really doubling down on that naming. November 2, 2022 at 7:20 pm #279151 Future Producer of Series IX – aaaaany day nowParticipant January 28, 2023 at 1:59 am #281873 RunawayTrainParticipant Rejoice, for the (UK) streaming drought has ended! Red Dwarf Series 1-VIII are now included with Amazon Prime Video. Well that didn’t last long. Leaving February the 1st (helpfully coinciding with the Coral Canvass deadline). January 28, 2023 at 7:58 am #281886 DaveParticipant Amazon is no longer interested in the audience Red Dwarf used to attract. January 28, 2023 at 7:14 pm #281893 Future Producer of Series IX – aaaaany day nowParticipant Thank fuck for that. The less IPs those leaches can get a hold of, the better.
