Obviously this is the very worst word-play joke in the whole history of Red Dwarf.

But why? Do you think it was changed from something that used to make sense? Obviously, ‘spit on her wrist’ doesn’t sound *anything* like ‘clitoris’. Was it, maybe ‘slit her wrists’? ‘slit her wrist’? Something that does *sound* like ‘clitoris’ but was then hastily rewritten when it was revealed how utterly tasteless that would have been?

Had that idea bouncing around my head since I quote ‘spit on her wrist’ yesterday in the Craig thread. It really has the feel of a hasty rewrite. Not something Doug could have written and stewed over. A last minute, 10-minutes-til-we-film replacement?

Yes, at the time it was speculated that it may have been a rewrite from “slit her wrist”.

Not that it’s much funnier, but at least the premise of the joke is slightly more functional.

There’s probably another context in which that would actually work as a joke, but it’s definitely not Red Dwarf.

I mean, it may have worked but it would have to be one hell of an amazing delivery without the rest of Timewave wrapped around it. If indeed, there was an original line and that was it.
