    Hello again.

I haven’t been on here in quite a while, and I have to admit, I haven’t finished Tikka to Ride.

I managed the recap and then I just had to click off.

I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s just not right.

So I haven’t watched any Red Dwarf in over a month.

Much too busy with Doctor Who stuff

Puzzle books aren’t being included yet.

My completion only came to about 3% but I’ve got a book that isn’t on the list & it’s quite a long one so the real figure is probably much higher.

    What book is this?

OK, as cool as TARDIS Dot Guide is, this chart does not make the EU any less daunting

We’re working on lots of new guides for the site to make the EU more accessible. I do recommend using the Character Tracker to set some EU goals for yourself. Just limiting yourself to completing a certain character’s stories is a really good gateway into the EU, and can help you, for example , find new ranges you’d like to get into.

I’m showing off a bit here, but I have completed every appearance of the 14th, 15th, and Fugitive Doctors (so far), and am working towards 100%ing 13 (I’m almost there!)

    Ninth Doctor Adventures

I’m rather excited for the next series of these. Going back to single releases is a very good idea.

Also can’t wait for THIRTEENTH DOCTOR ADVENTURES WITH YAZ 🤩🤩🤩

I’m pretty sure if you’re prone to FOMO and you become a hardcore Whovian, you just die immediately.

I guess I’m dead then. But seriously, I cannot recommend this site enough. TARDIS Guide is the best site I’ve ever come across for Doctor Who fans. It’s an amazing resource for tracking your progress through the Whoniverse, rating stories you’ve completed, uploading and reading reviews, and being part in the kindest community in the Who fandom on the forums. It’s amazing. (Oh, and if you’re interested in reading my reviews, you can find them here. If you like them, you could consider dropping a like or giving me a follow hint hint hint)

It’s watered Doctor Who down a bit. All these bizarre crossovers and things. I’m sure there’s some fantastic material there, but none of it feels special anymore.

I have to disagree. With the EU, so many different stories can be told that wouldn’t work on screen. And it makes the Whoniverse seem even larger and expansive. Plus, it means there’s always new Doctor Who to enjoy!

Would love to see him in the next Fugitive Doctor boxset!
Same. Just finished that first Fugitive Doctor audio series, good stuff, and also that one where she faces off against the War Doctor. I really do like the Fugitive Doctor a great deal. Even if her origins are controversial, her personality and methods are a really cool take, one that I was initially hoping to see with the War Doctor before they revealed the punchline that the War Doctor was perfectly nice.

Have you read the Fugitive comic as well?

Yeah, dystopian blood sport wasn’t a great fit.

The concept could have worked, but the book was so boring.

    Karvanista was pretty awesome.

Would love to see him in the next Fugitive Doctor boxset!

    Remember, Romana counts!

    And Nardole!

As Season 41/ Series 15/Season 2 looms ever closer, I’ve decided to share my thoughts on RTD2 so far. (Also including the Targets because why not?)

    60th Anniversary Specials

    • The Star Beast by Russell T Davies: A very ‘average’ episode. I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it. Novelisation by Alan Barnes: Good stuff, fairly straightforward retelling but adds some nice extras.

Wild Blue Yonder by Russell T Davies: While I loved it at the time, I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite 60th Special anymore. I still think it’s really good though. Disturbing, atmospheric, and thrilling. Novelisation by Mark Morris: Meh. Almost feels like just reading the episode’s script. Definitely loses it scariness.
The Giggle by Russell T Davies: This is my favourite 60th Special. Ignoring the bi-generation, this is a great episode, full of iconic moments. Novelisation by James Goss: Amazing. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Goss is one of the best writers I’ve come across.
The Church on Ruby Road by Russell T Davies: I enjoy this one. A cosy, Christmas treat. Novelisation by Esme Jikiemi-Pearson: Like Wild Blue Yonder, this is basically just a standard retelling. Thankfully the prose style is nice enough to still make it a good read.

    Season 40/14/01
Space Babies by Russell T Davies: Is it a good episode? Not really. Is it as dire as people suggest? No, not at all! It still holds up as an enjoyable piece of Doctor Who. Novelisation by Alison Rumfitt: Sadly nothing new here, but written nicely.
The Devil’s Chord by Russell T Davies: I like it. Far from a favourite, but a solid episode.
Boom by Steven Moffat: It’s a good episode, but not for me I’m afraid. Didn’t go down as well as Moffat episodes usually do for me.
73 Yards by Russell T Davies: I don’t love it as much as I did at the time, but still think this is one of this era’s finest episodes. Millie Gibson is phenomenal in this. Novelisation by Scott Hancock: It’s a good book, but only an alright novelisation.
Dot and Bubble by Russell T Davies: Heavy stuff. I have mixed opinions on this.
Rogue by Kate Herron and Briony Redman: Another highlight of this era for me. I’d like to see this writing duo return! Novelisation by Kate Herron and Briony Redman: Everything that made this episode work for me is captured perfectly on the page. These two know how to write good Doctor Who.
The Legend of Ruby Sunday by Russell T Davies: One thing RTD is great at is building suspense. This episode has me on the edge of my seat every time I watch it. This is more great stuff.
Empire of Death by Russell T Davies: Watching this in the cinema, I quite liked it. Now I don’t think it’s a great episode, but it’s good enough.
Joy to the World by Steven Moffat: Moffat’s new episodes haven’t really done it for me. While I preferred this to Boom, I wouldn’t call it a favourite.

It is conventionally around this point where the forum becomes more interested in people’s reactions, if you’re aware of the behind the scenes changes after Series VI. Stay spoiler free if you can, of course.

All I really know is Grant or Naylor leaves, and no one really likes Series VIII

he has the best Dalek stories.

    I have to agree.

The beautiful horror that is Dalek, and the simply phenomenal Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways.

The Dalek novelisation is also really good, but of course it is, it’s by Robert Shearman!

Well if anyone’s interested I might post my thoughts, ratings, and rankings on the episodes I’ve seen.

As I’m new to the Red Dwarf fandom, I’m not entirely sure how different episodes have been received, so it could be interesting seeing how my opinions contrast to ‘general consensus’

William Hartnell is easily the best Doctor. He is the only one who comes across like a real person, a real wandering scientist. There’s almost a Jules Verne quality to those very early serials with Ian and Barbara.

But the alien qualities are what I, and many others, love most about the Doctor

Is 13 technically “classic” now they’ve supposedly rebooted it again?

    I’m not sure.

I wouldn’t say so, as that’s almost like saying the Original Trilogy of Star Wars are actually also Prequels to the Sequels.

But Thirteen’s era is very much like Classic in tone, and that’s one of the many, many reasons I love that era

    Welcome!
Which parts of the show have you enjoyed most so far?

    Tough question!

My favourite characters are the Cat, Kryten, and Holly, and my favourite episodes are the ones that play with the format and do experimental things.
