Just a quick update to bring you this nice little post made by Andrew Ellard on the TOS WebBoard, who today took his place on the new production team for the specials.

I moved into my office on the new Red Dwarf production. It is number 13. The schedule includes not one but TWO Friday the 13ths.

I choose not to be superstitious. Since we have a very cool story to tell.

Expect updates on the site in the next week or two now things are up and running, as opposed to ‘roughly planned’.

Andrew

News coming soon, everyone, SO STOP COMPLAINING.

  • Wow i’m actually started to get excited about this now, proper official news from the Boys At The Dwarf. Fun.

  • Is this Andrew’s sort of subtle way of telling us we’re not going to see the specials till late march earliest?

I’m also surprised no one’s mentioned the gag from Better Than Life…

  • I know no-one’s put this in writing anywhere, and I’ve not seen it on the net anyplace, but I’m sure June/July rings a bell.
Maybe it’s just my overactive little mind.

  • If the schedule includes two Friday 13ths that means production will still be going on in March. Maybe it will be post-production.

  • Well filming will take all through febuary won’t it? Editing will take into March and what about DVD extras? Will the extras count as the production of the specials?

  • well from what i have heard robert say on certain things that it is intended to be an easter broadcast but i suspect if its running into mid march then may push back a bit further .. .. when is easter weekend thsi year anyway .. and iv never understood why it isnt on same day everyyear as christmas halloween bomfire night ect ect is

  • As far as I’m concerned, now that production is going ahead it can take as long as it damn well pleases. Rushing things for an Easter release isn’t needed.

Also, it’ll mean I’ll be living down in London for the recording dates if they push it back a few months ;)

  • The longer it takes, the longer those of us in the colonies will get to savour not being there. :(

  • Totally agree, we’ve been waiting for 10 years another few months shouldn’t make any difference. I’m sure it will be worth the wait. Oh , once I found out who iain lee was i decided he is a talentless spoon.

  • > and iv never understood why it isnt on same day everyyear as christmas halloween bomfire night ect ect is

Then there’s no hope for you…

  • From Robert’s Twitter page:

Okay, now we know it’s really going to happen. I just received my Red Dwarf contract. No turning back now, smeg, Kryters is back!

Warms the cockles of yer heart, don’t it?

  • More Tweets from Robert:

    1. Airdate – ‘Easter’
    2. At least one studio recording, no dates yet, but Rob will Tweet.

    It’s really real…

  • im guessing the 1 audience session may be the ” unplugged ” thing dont think that would work without audience whereas the episodes may go for a series 7 approach

  • >>Should we just set up a syndication of Robert?s Twitter feed on the G&T front page??

    >No.

    Don’t you like electric cars?

  • >They could film the 2 episodes in one go in front of an audience

i guess it al depends on the amount of location shooting ect ect but it seems plausable

  • >>Yes, we love electric cars

    >bravo

Yes, capital letters and punctuation are amazing things.

  • Usually I hate text speek used in normal conversation or on message boards but for Twitter it is just meant to be quick messages but I can understand why you dis-like.

  • Making sure that the DVDs are fucking phenomenal. Eventually. But for the production, I honestly couldn’t guess.

  • Is it weird to wonder what the cover of the DVD will look like? Dave is part owned by BBC Worldwide so will it be released by 2|E in the same manner as the past, if it is then hurray!

  • Didn’t Craig say they were going to do some of the filming in Manchester, or did I dream it?
Damn. I could’ve just about made it to Manchester. Shepperton would probably be out of the question at short notice 8(

    >once I found out who iain lee was i decided he is a talentless spoon
I’ve heard him called a lot of things, but ‘spoon’ isn’t one of them.

  • It’s doubtful they’ll film the episodes in more than one studio. Maybe some location stuff in Manchester, or perhaps the ‘Unplugged’ show. Don’t know why they wouldn’t shoot that at Shepperton though, or why they wouldn’t do location stuff around Shepperton as per the classic series (fucking hell, am I seriously looking at past Dwarf as ‘classic’ Dwarf and the specials as part of ‘new’ Dwarf?? These are technically the first two episodes of series 9 or series ‘1’?? And is Unplugged episode A of series 9??)

  • I’d have thought of Unplugged as a special, like Universe Challenge or Can’t Smeg Won’t Smeg. Except better, hopefully.

  • These don’t strike me as a series at all, so much as a cluster. I am loathe to think of it as series 9, especially when there is only one story is guranteed. I mean, some people are barely willing to acknolwedge series 8 because of Pete and BITR. So far I’m regarding them as a temporal anomoly.

  • it wouldent particularly bother me if they carried on from series 6 but i stil want to know what happen after only the good … as do alot of people and i guess its unlikely there going to ignore 2 whole series of events

  • > Associate Producer

This basically involves doing stuff the main producer(s) can’t do because they’re so busy. Presumably Doug is main producer so he’s got a LOT on his plate. Who’s directing?

  • I don’t know, but I’m going to make an assumption and state it as fact. Then maybe some other people can fill in the blanks with their ill-informed guesswork, until we’ve created a full picture that’s completely and utterly untrue. Then some more people can come along and complain about this new information, prompting other people to complain that GNP aren’t confirming or denying every single piece of speculation that comes along. When we get bored of that, someone else will come along, only read the first couple of posts in the thread and ask the same question again, so the whole glorious process can start again. Repeat until you lose the will to live.

  • Yeah, that’s right, we make up our own ARG to keep us busy until real news comes out… ;)

    Somebody had a bad day…

  • I sent a news story to G&T instead of creating a topic, Mr Llew replied to my question, 30 minute episodes not including adverts.

  • 30 mins without the adds thats all good .. and small but nice news update on the offcial site .. signs on doors least its official official news that the ball is rolling woo

  • >>They sold out yesterday.

    >Tell me you?re kidding. Not least as tickets are free.

To be fair no claim as to what tickets were wanted were made so many shows may have been sold out yesterday, you really need to be more specific abotu what tickets you are reffering.

The Red Dwarf Dave Special tickets are not up yet, Mr Robert Llew said he would Twit like a mad man when they were up though.

  • >The Red Dwarf Dave Special tickets are not up yet, Mr Robert Llew said he would Twit like a mad man when they were up though.

To be fair, Robert probably isn’t the best-placed to know when they’re available. The best advice is really to keep checking the usual channels for TV recording tickets.

  • >>They sold out yesterday.

    >Tell me you?re kidding. Not least as tickets are free.

    No, I’m serious.
