Backwards at the IFB News Posted by Ian Symes on 21st September 2023, 10:00 Just a quick one to bring you a bit of news that for the majority of the last two decades we’d leave to TOS and/or @RedDwarfHQ to cover, but now that Red Dwarf‘s sole official news outlet is apparently Doug’s Twitter feed, here’s something he’s unlikely to report on. The British Film Institute are having a season on time travel, and they’ve got the old Quarantine Commentaries team of Rob Grant, Paul Jackson and Ed Bye back together for a screening of Backwards followed by a Q&A. Robert Llewellyn is joining the gang too, and it’s a double bill with an episode of Timewasters. The event takes place on Sunday 5th November (so remember remember that date), and tickets go on sale in… ooh, just under an hour and a half.
Hopefully someone will report back on whether anyone addresses him as ‘Bobby’, and if he reacts by going feral on them.
Audience Member: “Hello, I have a question for Bobby?” Robert Llewellyn: “Yes?” AM: “Ah-ha! So you do go by Bobby! No, my question is for Bobby Grant, of course.” Rob Grant: “… OK, what is it?” AM: “What drew you to the social media feeds of Kellie-Jay Keen and Nigel Farage?”
I just had a thought – they should do the Q&A before the screening. And also they should give the answers before they hear the questions. And also all four of the guests should dress as the Sensational Reverse Brothers, and Tony Hawks should present it.
I got a ticket to this! Similar to Patrick Stew-art I was living and working in America when the lockdown commentaries were going on. Then something happened that made me laugh. At that point I never thought I’d get the chance to be in the same room so this was a bit of a no brainer.
I’ve been away for a bit so missed this when it was posted…. came to it now thinking “oh, that’ll be long sold out” so disappointed to see less than half of the tickets have gone.
Thanks for the heads up, looks like a cool screening, booked. I usually attend the Doctor Who events at the BFI and the Q&A’s are typically pretty good.
Disappointed that the news of Bobby (‘nobody calls me Bobby’) becoming @ActualKryten hasn’t been relayed to everyone.
I don’t often go on TwitXter, but from the bile-filled shenanigans that seem to go on there, I can well believe it would prematurely age someone.
Just remembered that this is today. Notice on the site it now says “We regret that, due to a changed filming schedule, Robert Llewellyn is unable to attend.”
