The first three chapters have been available for a little while, but Robert’s now made the rest of the book available for an incredibly decent £4.99. Details – and the audiobook itself – are here: https://audioboo.fm/channel/rubbermask It is a great book, as I’m sure most of you know, and paying just a fiver for just under Five hours of Robert reading it to you is something of a bargain. :) (I was going to post this news in G&T’s piece about the book here – http://www.ganymede.tv/indepth/tmitrm-epilogue – but decided to put it on the forum instead…) Creator Topic Viewing 50 replies - 1 through 50 (of 52 total) 1 2 Author Replies November 29, 2011 at 4:54 pm #113437 JamesTCParticipant Bought my download. November 29, 2011 at 5:17 pm #113440 Mr-StabbyParticipant Ooh thanks. Will definitely get that. November 29, 2011 at 6:34 pm #113447 siParticipant Even better: you spend your fiver, and that includes all the still-being-written updates, as explained by Robert here: http://llewblog.squarespace.com/books/ November 29, 2011 at 6:58 pm #113451 JamesTCParticipant Fantastic value. Didn’t know the subscription included the upcoming Series VI-X update. Plus interviews with cast and crew of Series X! November 29, 2011 at 7:21 pm #113455 Ben PaddonParticipant Tempting. But I’m so broke. It can wait. November 30, 2011 at 12:31 am #113469 siParticipant Couldn’t help myself. Have now finished listening to the whole book(so far!) whilst reading along with my battered, 1994 first edition, well thumbed paperback. Robert’s impressions of cast members (especially Danny) and Americans are brilliant. Well worth a fiver of anyone’s money. December 15, 2011 at 11:05 pm #113682 Steven RankinParticipant Will be buying this some point next week. Can’t wait March 1, 2012 at 4:11 pm #115576 siParticipant Robert’s just posted a Boo letting know all about the current goings-on with regard to Rubber Mask 2. There’s also an amusing excerpt from his forthcoming Red Dwarf VI chapter… http://boo.fm/b692127 March 1, 2012 at 5:18 pm #115577 Pete Part ThreeParticipant I’ve rather lost track of this. Is there going to be an ebook anytime soon? March 1, 2012 at 10:44 pm #115590 siParticipant Series VI chapter now available – 38 glorious minutes. :) http://bit.ly/sBfUHM March 1, 2012 at 11:26 pm #115594 Danny StephensonKeymaster lovely. Will sync up itunes tomorrow. that’s 38 minutes of the afternoon sorted then. March 3, 2012 at 11:30 pm #115649 ClaireParticipant I’ve just subscribed to this and am working my way through it – it’s great so far. :) I have a question – the abandoned scene from “Marooned” Robert describes, where Cat’s supposed to be using Kryten as a sled. Is it lost like the sauna scene was until recently? And are there other lost deleted scenes? May 18, 2012 at 6:53 pm #116447 siParticipant Robert’s added another couple of chapters recently, and for those of you who have paid your fiver, he’s uploaded his memories of 1998/series eight this evening. A funny 40 minutes include a rant about money, and a misplaced anecdote from series seven. :) https://audioboo.fm/channel/rubbermask May 18, 2012 at 7:16 pm #116448 ori-STUDFARMParticipant I’d paid the fiver a while back…and then couldn’t find the new files. Although I only quickly looked and then forgot to go searching again. Cheers Si for reminding me…downloading now :) August 17, 2012 at 7:26 pm #117781 siParticipant Robert’s just Tweeted a link to an interview he’s given to Kryten about the MITRM AudioBoo-k. Silly and amusing. :) http://t.co/gFGcSbn4 August 17, 2012 at 7:37 pm #117782 AlexParticipant Next thing he’ll be playing himself at snooker and releasing podcasts of it. August 17, 2012 at 8:08 pm #117780 Mr-StabbyParticipant Is it just me, or does Robert not actually sound like Kryten when he does the voice outside of the TV show? He sounds like someone doing a reasonable impression. August 17, 2012 at 9:12 pm #117778 Pecospete666Participant He’s become a real Twitter Whore! He should be doing some cryptic RDX hints I expect to see him on TV at 4am selling SHAMWOWS! August 18, 2012 at 5:52 am #117771 HelloMabelParticipant > Is it just me, or does Robert not actually sound like Kryten when he does the voice outside of the TV show? He sounds like someone doing a reasonable impression. It’s not just you, I can kind of hear it – like it’s the same voice, just not a full out performance. Perhaps the pitch is a bit lower. But it’s to be expected because in the show there is the excitement of the audience, and he gets to play off the other actors – all the things that make recording a show different from an audiobook. Plus the audiobook is so long that if he gave a full out performance, I expect he’d soon have no voice left. September 17, 2012 at 9:13 am #200977 siParticipant Just discovered that Robert uploaded a new chapter (Part Two, Chapter Four) to AudioBoo around 12 hours ago. I am listening to it as I write. A new 15 minute chapter, detailing a major event or two from the wilderness years. It’s 2001. It’s Red Dwarf – The Movie… https://audioboo.fm/channel/rubbermask September 22, 2012 at 3:26 pm #201305 siParticipant Robert Tweeted this at 10:10 this morning: https://twitter.com/bobbyllew/status/249435515022090240 If all goes well today, I will upload another chapter on #ManintheRubberMask audiobook Here’s hoping… https://audioboo.fm/channel/rubbermask September 22, 2012 at 3:29 pm #201306 Mr-StabbyParticipant Enjoyed the last chapter. Although most of Red Dwarf has been well documented on the DVDs, the movie is still something i don’t know much about. I knew they went in for some costume tests, but i didn’t know they were basically ready for the shoot and had planned it and everything. September 22, 2012 at 8:40 pm #201331 MANI506Participant Brilliant – best fiver I ever spent! September 24, 2012 at 7:03 pm #201502 siParticipant Part Two, Chapter Five now up. Covers Back To Earth. https://audioboo.fm/channel/rubbermask I’ve only managed to listen to about 15minutes, but the chapter lasts a whole 38 minutes. November 20, 2012 at 9:47 pm #204144 siParticipant The latest/final chapter – Part Two, Chapter Six – should be up soon. This, I suspect, will bring us bang up to date, including the reading, recording and maybe even the DVD release for all I know, of Red Dwarf X. Robert has Tweeted a couple of times in the last couple of days suggesting that it’s fairly imminent, but nothing as yet. He did say that there was a “minor technical fault” last night, but also said this morning that it’d be up today “if all goes well”. So, this is just a heads up. If you’ve paid your fiver, keep checking. https://audioboo.fm/channel/rubbermask November 20, 2012 at 9:58 pm #204145 Danny StephensonKeymaster My itunes may surprise me, i’m a long way to go, it makes for excellent relaxy sunday afternoon listening… November 21, 2012 at 8:04 am #204159 MANI506Participant I’m a massive fan of this updated audio boo. Nice one Bobby! November 21, 2012 at 8:06 am #204160 MANI506Participant New chapter isn’t up yet.. November 21, 2012 at 4:04 pm #204198 siParticipant It appears to be up now, 40 minutes long, I think. :) *downloads* November 21, 2012 at 4:15 pm #204199 JamesTCParticipant Currently listening to it. It seems to be the wrong version. A version with a couple of mistakes left in after 13 minutes. At 15:40 he burps. November 21, 2012 at 4:28 pm #204202 siParticipant Yes, I’ve just passed that bit. Full of fluffs, mistakes, repeated lines, belches etc. Amusing that, at that point, he’d juat been speaking about SmegUps. :) November 21, 2012 at 4:37 pm #204205 siParticipant I tweeted about the burps etc. Robert @bromley001 Slight worry, now wondering if I’ve put up the wrong file. Oooooooh dear November 21, 2012 at 4:50 pm #204211 HelloMabelParticipant Has anyone reminded him that the warm-up guy for “Trojan” was Tom Price, not Ray Peacock? November 21, 2012 at 5:06 pm #204218 siParticipant Ah. Forty minutes in, we’ve had our fill of fluffs etc, We’re halfway through the making of Lemons, and the file’s ended. Yes, it was probably the wrong one, Robert. November 21, 2012 at 5:13 pm #204220 HelloMabelParticipant An honest mistake. Naming your kid Louie Llewellyn, though, that’s just evil. :) November 21, 2012 at 5:30 pm #204228 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Do his kids definitely have Llewellyn as a surname? I know Judie (his wife) doesn’t… November 21, 2012 at 5:59 pm #204234 siParticipant Maybe that’s not his name at all. Maybe it’s a nickname -‘ Llewie’ – and his actual name is Steve or something. November 21, 2012 at 6:21 pm #204237 HelloMabelParticipant I hadn’t thought of that; I guess he might be Louie Pascoe. It’s not like its a big deal or anything, it just reminds me of a certain classic from The Kingsmen. November 21, 2012 at 6:49 pm #204245 Ian SymesKeymaster Robert’s surname isn’t Llewellyn either – I doubt the kids would take his stage name. November 21, 2012 at 6:53 pm #204246 siParticipant Is it not? I honestly didn’t know that. Wasn’t his father called Llewellyn on that family histry show on Channel Five the other month? November 21, 2012 at 6:54 pm #204247 Ben KirkhamParticipant He’s David Ross in disguise, isn’t he? November 21, 2012 at 7:00 pm #204251 Ian SymesKeymaster I could be wrong, but I could have sworn his name was Robert Allen. See also: Chris Brown. Seem to recall that Hattie is a non de plume too, but can’t remember the specifics. November 21, 2012 at 7:01 pm #204252 Danny StephensonKeymaster I knew Chris Barrie’s surname isn’t Barrie, but Robert’s i didnt know about… November 21, 2012 at 7:04 pm #204255 siParticipant Ditto. November 21, 2012 at 7:10 pm #204258 Ben KirkhamParticipant “I knew Chris Barrie’s surname isn’t Barrie, but Robert’s i didnt know about…” I knew nothing of any of this. Do you mean I’ve spent the last twenty years of my life being lied to? *sob* November 21, 2012 at 11:13 pm #204336 siParticipant I was Ditto-ing Danny’s comment about his mind being blown by Hattie being a stagename, which has since vanished, and Ian’s original comment altered blah blah blah… Anyway, Robert’s put a new version of the first part of chapter 6 up on AudioBoo, after taking the original one down when we started telling him about the burping. The new version takes us as far as Christmas 2011. November 21, 2012 at 11:19 pm #204338 Danny StephensonKeymaster I knew nothing of any of this. Do you mean I’ve spent the last twenty years of my life being lied to? *sob* First time I became aware was when Chris was at a Q&A and he was recalling a story of when he was fired at Harrods for riding a bicycle around the store and I think impersonating the manager. Over the tannoy system. And he kept referring to himself as ‘Mr Brown’ when doing said impersonation of said manager. I dont think he makes any bones about the stage name, it’s on ze Wikipedia. Robert’s isn’t, but i’m still not 100% on that one… November 21, 2012 at 11:26 pm #204339 HelloMabelParticipant TIL tannoy system, fascia, and the phenomenon of awarding an Internet. November 21, 2012 at 11:31 pm #204340 Pete Part ThreeParticipant This proves nothing…but does contain quite a bit of info: http://www.tv.com/people/robert-llewellyn/ “Robert is the son of Reg and Brenda Llewellyn, both now deceased” November 22, 2012 at 12:30 am #204359 anniescribeParticipant Let’s all take a minute to give thanks that Chris had the foresight 30 years ago to pick a different professional name in anticipation of NOT being confused* with that misogynistic little shit in the USA**. *Yes, I know that wasn’t the reason. **I’m American too, and I can say this.
