I used to post links to things I had written that were Dwarf related in the Things Found Through Google Alerts thread never quite thinking it was worth starting a new one, but it was pointed out that it looked as though I was pretending to have stumbled across my own scribblings. A couple of compliments later and here is that thread. I’ve been a bit absent lately after a recent bout of busy and preventing attempted murder: http://davewrotethis.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/on-knife-edge.html So Red Dwarf X has crept up on me a bit and all of a sudden here it is and I wrote this: http://davewrotethis.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/so-youre-back-from-outer-space.html Creator Topic Viewing 15 replies - 1 through 15 (of 15 total) Author Replies October 4, 2012 at 5:21 pm #201926 HelloMabelParticipant Oh my God, Dave. I’m glad you and Sarah and your neighbors are ok. She is so lucky that you were there. I’ve been a fan since series 2 but every series that came after pushed my enthusiasm higher and higher until it peaked at VI. I enjoyed all the Red Dwarf we’ve had since then and I’ve greedily devoured every DVD that has since come out but tonight does feel special in the way that ‘Psirens’ did all those years ago. Great headline and I think Kula Shaker are great as well! October 4, 2012 at 7:29 pm #201942 NoFroParticipant I also got into Red Dwarf through the III Byte 1 video and it belonged to my friend’s brother! Though I reckon I saw it in 2000. I found series 1 and 2 in a charity shop (looking back they were probably there because the DVDs had come out) and enjoyed them and then, as happens when one is young, I got distracted by other things and didn’t really watch the show for a while. I bought the III DVD a few years later after Gold went through a re-run of the series and reminded me of how great it was. I didn’t catch many episodes (I remember seeing Camille, The Inquisitor and Gunmen on TV) but it was enough to get me to buy III on DVD. It was a couple of months before VI came out because I remember picking that up on release and buying IV at the same time. Funny thing is, I remember seeing Red Dwarf a few years before I saw that III VHS. I remember channel flicking and seeing a clip of VI. Pretty sure it was Emohawk. Even though I didn’t actually watch the show I remember seeing Kryten in Starbug (I’m almost certain it was the scene with the guitar just after the crash) and just thinking the robot was the coolest looking thing. Literally just saw the shortest clip, took note of nothing but the visuals but visually it had such an impact that when I got into the show years later I still remembered exactly what I had seen. Hence me being 99% sure it was Emohawk. October 4, 2012 at 7:47 pm #201944 PhilParticipant I Read This October 4, 2012 at 7:56 pm #201945 Jonathan CappsKeymaster This is excellent, Dave. October 8, 2012 at 6:15 pm #202131 DaveParticipant Thanks Pete October 8, 2012 at 6:33 pm #202133 DaveParticipant Thanks Mani506, Trojan was no Psirens, but it is interesting given your comparison, just how much those two episodes have in common. I thought I might regret that. October 29, 2012 at 4:32 pm #203015 DaveParticipant Thanks to Carl for pointing out I had my years in a twist, here’s a thing I wrote about 1989 which includes series III and the first novel: http://davewrotethis.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/youve-been-away-as-long-as-you-think.html Author Replies Viewing 15 replies - 1 through 15 (of 15 total) Scroll to top • Scroll to Recent Forum Posts You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
