U=BTL Shadowrun

So I have just started playing Shadowrun Returns after having it sit in my GOG.com backlog for months now and as part of the main campaign you encounter people implanted with “Better-Than-Life” (“BTL”) chips that are strikingly similar to the way that Better Than Life is depicted in the Red Dwarf novels.

Based on my minimal research Shadowrun has been using the concept as far back as the original first edition of the Shadowrun tabletop role-playing game in 1989, the same year the Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers was released. A case of convergent evolution.
