I bought the release yesterday even though it featured extremely skimpy special features for a Wes Anderson film (30 min of behind the scenes footage and…a trailer), but this is one of those rare occasions where I really hope somebody is planning to release a better version and suck another purchase out of me. Nowhere near his best film, but still fucking excellent in its own way, I was particularly looking forward to commentary (hopefully including Schwartzman and Wilson) and deleted scenes (evidently there was a lot of pre-movie-timeframe stuff shot, but the only one that ended up in the film was the scene in which the brothers try to drive their father’s car to his funeral…a wise decision to remove the others, I am positive, as it gives that scene such a unique and unexpected resonance, but I’d still like to see what else was shot). I’m glad to have a copy of the film at all, to be honest…but I really hope this is just a stop-gap release so people don’t lose interest before the big double-disc’er. Come on, Anderson! Oh, and just for fun, Wes Anderson, from best to least best: – The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (by a hair) – The Royal Tenenbaums – Rushmore – The Darjeeling Limited – Bottle Rocket (by a lot) Creator Topic You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
