Creator Topic Viewing 33 replies - 1 through 33 (of 33 total) Author Replies September 30, 2008 at 10:10 pm #85273 Ian SymesKeymaster There’s this: http://www.ganymede.tv/dwarfcasts-1 September 30, 2008 at 10:13 pm #85274 Tarka DalParticipant Perfect. Maybe you could have a link for that in the Productions section. September 30, 2008 at 10:17 pm #85275 Tarka DalParticipant Oh whilst I’m at it, I’ve finally started listening to podcasts. * Pause for applause* Thank you. Now, could I ask for your recommendations. (Ian I’m already subscribed to Guardian Football Weekly) September 30, 2008 at 10:19 pm #85276 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Hopefully we’ll have a proper iTunes and a normal XML feed up soon. Probably not worth it until we’re all in a position to record regular ‘casts, though. September 30, 2008 at 10:25 pm #85278 Tarka DalParticipant Fair enough, just a suggestion. Stephen Fry’s podgrams don’t appear to be that regular either though. Thought it might flesh out the productions section a bit too. Oh plus I think you should re-christen them Cappsy-grams. September 30, 2008 at 10:37 pm #85283 John HoareParticipant Yeah, we’ll have a proper RSS feed when I get my ARSE IN GEAR. See it in about 25 years, then. September 30, 2008 at 10:40 pm #85284 Tarka DalParticipant I’m not waiting 25 years to see your arse. The suspense would kill me. September 30, 2008 at 10:41 pm #85285 John HoareParticipant Thank you. Now, could I ask for your recommendations. I *would* recommend both the Chris Moyles and Jingle News Monthly podcasts, but I don’t think either is especially likely to go down well on here! October 1, 2008 at 1:04 am #85298 locusceruleusParticipant I’ve already set up an iTunes feed for a podcast. It’s not that hard at all, especially if you’ve got stable hosting for the mp3s. October 1, 2008 at 1:08 am #85301 peas_and_cornParticipant http://www.thebrewingnetwork.com have a great series of podcasts- there’s one that’s not geared towards brewing (Lunch Meet- it’s pretty funny) if for some reason you don’t like beer. The Sunday session is all about talking about beer and interviewing brewers and the like. The Jamil show dedicates each week to a certain style, and Brew Strong is a technical podcast. October 1, 2008 at 1:10 am #85302 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I’m probably the only person that likes them, but that Dave Firth of Salad Fingers fame has a pretty awesome podcast called WallerFM. October 1, 2008 at 9:53 am #85325 Ian SymesKeymaster Two essential podcasts: Adam & Joe: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/podcasts/adamandjoe/ Collings & Herrin: http://www.comedy.org.uk/podcasts/collingsherrin/ October 1, 2008 at 9:59 am #85326 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Oooh, I saw the Collins and Herring podcast live the other day in a pub in Kings Cross. Most amusing it was. October 1, 2008 at 10:22 am #85330 Pete Part ThreeParticipant >Collings & Herrin: http://www.comedy.org.uk/podcasts/collingsherrin/ Haven’t has a chance to listen to this in ages! I wish they’d kept it to fortnightly (and under 1 hour) as I’m really behind. Yes, please rearrange the recording of this for my benefit. >http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/podcasts/adamandjoe/ I keep on meaning to seek this out too, simply on the strength of their QoS piss-takes. October 1, 2008 at 11:42 am #85352 Tarka DalParticipant I’m so good at anticipating Ian. I added those two last night! Cheers for the rest of the links. My brother recommended this, cadmium2.wordpress.com. I’ve not had chance to listen to it yet, but it would appear that Dwarf has to get a mention sooner or later. My brother recommended this, cadmium2.wordpress.com. I?ve not had chance to listen to it yet, but it would appear that Dwarf has to get a mention sooner or later. There’s a whole episode dedicated to Red Dwarf! October 1, 2008 at 2:25 pm #85383 Tarka DalParticipant I hadn’t even skimmed over the site, only copy and pasted the link into bloglines. Come to think of it my brother mentioned that one of the sci-fi podcasts he listens too might have mentioned this site, so it could be on that podcast. October 2, 2008 at 6:03 pm #85612 Pete Part ThreeParticipant I was going to post this in the McCain thread but didn’t want to veer that off-topic any further. I was just wondering if anyone listens to the Dwarfcasts while actually watching the episode? I definitely did this with the first couple that John and Ian did a few year back, but it no longer seems essential. The main reason I ask, is that the length of a commentary is often restricted by the length of the episode/film/what have you. October 2, 2008 at 6:05 pm #85613 DaveParticipant I did, but I never quite sync them up right October 2, 2008 at 6:12 pm #85616 Danny StephensonKeymaster i do it all the time, the beepy thing does help but if they’re edited for whataver reason it knocks the sync out. We’re striving to make more DwarfCasts but since THEY ALL LIVE IN LONDON and i don’t. It’s difficult so have a good natter. October 2, 2008 at 6:17 pm #85618 Pete Part ThreeParticipant Satellite link-up. Tsk. October 2, 2008 at 6:31 pm #85619 AndrewParticipant I used to, but in truth I know the eps too well at this stage so it’s not really necessary. October 2, 2008 at 11:43 pm #85667 locusceruleusParticipant >I was just wondering if anyone listens to the Dwarfcasts while actually watching the episode? October 3, 2008 at 12:34 am #85671 PhilParticipant >What about Skype or something like that? With weekly GUEST COMMENTATOR. October 3, 2008 at 12:44 am #85672 Jonathan CappsKeymaster > With weekly GUEST COMMENTATOR. I’ve suddenly become incredibly interested in setting this up. October 3, 2008 at 3:19 am #85682 MnoooahParticipant Well, this *is* an audience of completists, so you’d better get cracking. ;) October 3, 2008 at 9:08 am #85695 Danny StephensonKeymaster Skype has an inhibitor which stops you from recording the conversations, and he need something that can deal with about 5 incoming conversations. October 3, 2008 at 7:39 pm #85753 locusceruleusParticipant There’s plenty of non-Skype produced software available for recording Skype conversations though. Check Download.com I don’t remember offhand the one that I used, but I’ve used Skype for recording interviews in the past. October 3, 2008 at 8:16 pm #85758 Danny StephensonKeymaster Does it work with more than 2 people talking? October 3, 2008 at 9:21 pm #85765 locusceruleusParticipant Yup, definitely. I believe this is the one I used: http://www.skyperec.com/ Very straightforward and easy to use, and you can select the bitrate and so on. October 8, 2008 at 3:59 pm #85877 Ben PaddonParticipant I use PowerGrammo to record my podcast via Skype. it’s not free if there’s more than two of you, but it is bloody brilliant. It even plugs directly into Skype so you can stop and start recording from the Skype window. January 13, 2009 at 1:10 pm #88680 Tarka DalParticipant I thought I’d bring this one back rather than start a new one. Can anyone recommend an app or website for collating and downloading of ‘casts’. That is any casts, not specifically the Dwarfy ones. I’ve a specific ‘podcasts’ folder setup in my bloglines, but If I don’t download some of them immediately (namely the BBC ones) then when I get round to checking my folder for new casts I’ve often got several new shows listed, but no longer available to download. So I’m thinking somekind of automated bit of kit could sort this out. Something I could install on the home pc to automatically download all new outstanding casts whenever I connect to the interwebz. Presumably iTunes does something like this, but that’s out due the way it kills the PC with it’s memory usage.
