    I haven’t seen it mentioned here, but I just spotted that the unabridged audiobooks for Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers and Better Than Life have both been published on iTunes/Apple Books! (7 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago respectively.)

    This feels like a relatively big deal, because for 13-15 years, the digital versions have been exclusive to Audible. So if you’ve been holding out due to an understandable reluctance to give your money to Ian Amazon, now’s the moment you’ve been waiting for.

    They’re cheaper, too. IWCD is £5.99 compared to £12.99 (or £7.99 for one month’s membership / £6 for a third of a members-only 3 credit bundle), while BTL is £3.99 compared to £9.09.

    Still DRM-ed I assume, but I guess you can’t have everything.

    On looking at the listings a second time, there are a couple of oddities:

    1. It says “Presented by Audible.co.uk”. Does anyone know what that means? Maybe these releases aren’t as free from Amazon as I thought.

    2. It says that Better Than Life is in Danish?! It still says it’s read by Chris Barrie and the preview is in English, though, so apologies to any Danish-speaking fans who see this and get their hopes up.

    I was sure there was a big re-release of these on iTunes etc about a million years ago. Did I dream that?

    Possibly. I’ve searched “Red Dwarf” in the iTunes Store various times since becoming a fan, and this is the first time the unabridged audiobooks have come up. Hard to be totally sure though.

    Maybe it’s the Radio Show you’re remembering?
