I think i heard about them being re-mastered at one point because the current sets were poor quality but for £15 i’ll go for this if it’s any good. You could do a lot worse… August 1, 2009 at 10:37 pm #101756 DessieParticipant I read somewhere they were re-releasing them because the BBC decided to churn them out as quickly as possible at first and the quality was poor. I wouldn’t want to buy this and then find out they were being released again with extra stuff and in better quality. But like you said at ?15 i cant go wrong. August 1, 2009 at 11:11 pm #101759 AndrewParticipant Can’t blame the BBC – it’s the Pythons and Sony. August 1, 2009 at 11:12 pm #101760 Danny StephensonKeymaster I just got annoyed with the plethora of different Monty Python DVDs out there, box sets which do and do not contain the live shows. Best Ofs, not to mention the million versions of the Movies box set and each individual film as a 1 disc, 2 disc or Super Mega Happy Fun Set… August 2, 2009 at 5:24 pm #101770 siParticipant I’ve got the boxset with all the shows and movies. I got it dirt cheap from Zavvi when it was closing down. It was only about twenty quid, around last christmas time – still haven’t watched them all. August 3, 2009 at 2:27 am #101787 SomebodyParticipant Yeah, working my way through S1, and “Science Fiction Story” was downright painful. August 3, 2009 at 11:00 am #101798 Jonathan CappsKeymaster You do realise you’re all fucking idiots, yes? August 3, 2009 at 11:54 am #101799 Ian SymesKeymaster Moments of brilliance amidst a sea of other moments of brilliance. August 3, 2009 at 3:21 pm #101810 PhilParticipant MPFC does indeed feature a certain amount of crappy skits. Science Fiction Story is not one of them. August 16, 2009 at 1:58 pm #102380 DessieParticipant It’s finally here! It took 12 days for delivery from play.com which seems a bit long for them. I notice there are two more Monty Python sets coming out http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/11072687/Monty-Python-Almost-The-Truth-The-Lawyar-Cut/Product.html http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/10537591/Monty-Python-40th-Anniversary-Box-Set/Product.html It’s all getting a bit excessive now. August 16, 2009 at 2:42 pm #102381 NoFroParticipant Might have to get that first one. Lots of great comedians and actors being interviewed as well as the Pythons and, interestingly, Bruce Dickinson. August 16, 2009 at 5:49 pm #102387 AlexParticipant Well the man does have quite a large Python knowledge and his original stage name in Samson (Bruce Bruce) comes from it. August 16, 2009 at 6:43 pm #102389 hummingbirdParticipant > It?s all getting a bit excessive now. August 16, 2009 at 6:56 pm #102391 AndrewParticipant “The Lawyar’s Cut (sic per Play.com)” only appeared on my radar the other day. Alan Parker directing a Python documentary?! Yeah, turned out, not actually THAT Alan Parker… August 16, 2009 at 9:25 pm #102399 NoFroParticipant > Well the man does have quite a large Python knowledge and his original stage name in Samson (Bruce Bruce) comes from it. I’ve always known him to be a huge fan and Graham Chapman was in an Iron Maiden video himself but Bruce stands out a bit amongst all the comedians and actors in the list. However, it’s always great when he’s interviewed due to his relentless energy and the infectious enthusiasm he has about anything he finds joy in, so it’ll be nice to see him talking Python. Also, Chapman was to have a Cameo in Timeslides? I guess this is probably common knowledge but I only just read about it. Who was he to play? Gilbert? August 16, 2009 at 9:32 pm #102400 DaveParticipant >Who was he to play? A (possibly male) Blaize Falconburger August 16, 2009 at 9:45 pm #102401 NoFroParticipant That’s such a shame! One of my least favourite cameos could’ve been one of my favourites!
