I’ve got a few of the Down The Line CD’s and I never found that radio talk show spoof that funny really, but checked it out because I’m a fan of the cast, 3 or 4 of the main fast show dudes, and few more comedy people like Amelia Bullmore, Julia Davis, Felix Dexter etc. But there is only about 2 episodes that hold together as anything more than over reliant on character improvisation. Just seen an episode of The TV version which is a suitable enough change of setting to satirise celebrity meets the british public and their attitudes style documentary, but a collection of cross sectioned britain is just like what little britian did when it copied the fast show & Enfield anyways and this time it’s maybe it’s aiming for subtle but It’s mostly flat, it’s well enough made programme, and performances, but yeah too slow to be considered comedy by me. It’s funny material that’s needed to make something like this work, and only a couple times did comedic ideas actually apear alongside the characters. The interplay between them is fantastic. I agree that perhaps it could do with a few more laugh-out-loud lines. But it makes me smile constantly, which is enough for me. Maybe I’m getting soft in my old age. February 6, 2010 at 11:37 pm #108670 ori-STUDFARMParticipant I actually prefered the stuff on the red button. The spoof making of this spoof documantary…..(does that make proper sense like?) February 7, 2010 at 1:03 am #108671 JonsmadParticipant Is Graham the nasal fat bloke whitehouse does? He wasnt in the episode I saw, not seen the red button bit either. February 7, 2010 at 2:36 am #108674 John HoareParticipant That’s the fat fuck, yes. Every character Whithouse does is fat and nasally…except for one that thinks milk is brilliant! He’s thin and nasally!
