Not his fault, they transferred a subscription to this when a film magazine he got was cancelled. Good article in the last issue though, labelled 1982 as the geekiest year. They make a good point too, look at the films that came out- Conan, Sword and the sorcerer, Wrath of Khan, Tron, Dark Crystal, Blade Runner, ET, Poltegeist. TV got Police Squad, Cagney and Lacey, Fame, Young Ones, Comic Strip Presents, Cheers and Knight Rider. I was 16, my enduring memory is the relief as Channel 4 launched and S Pedwar Ek (S4C) got all the welsh language programmes off the other channels. Mind you we lost Swap Shop and Tiswas in that year, and Blake’s 7 in December of 81. Red Dwarf was still 6 years away, but still, a good year? Good grief. My girlfriend wasn’t even born then. I feel so old… PS- John Carpenter’s The Thing too. We watched that last night.
