(Not free trial period, just downright free!) I’m sick to the back of teeth of Windows Movie Maker constantly crashing on me. Anybody got any good suggestions? Not TOO basic, but basic enough that I could probably work it out pretty quickly (as a regular user of WMM) March 16, 2009 at 10:57 pm #93944 hummingbirdParticipant Thing is, WMM is so basic that anything else you try is going to seem complicated …. until you get the hang of it. I have Sony Vegas 6.0, and I find it pretty straightforward. The basic editing tools aren’t too difficult and quite user friendly, and once you’ve got the hang of those it’s easy to move on to more sophisticated effects. 6.0 has a walkthrough that’s handy if you haven’t used it before, or you could try finding an online tutorial. I’ve heard that Ulead is good, too. Sadly, it’s not free. March 17, 2009 at 12:06 am #93947 CarlitoParticipant It’s okay, I’m not a technophobe and I’m more than willing to jump in the deep end with Vegas when I got a bit of time, but I just wanted to do some quick editing without the stop-start hassle of WMM. Yeah, you can sometimes get hold of a cheap copy Ulead (very good, BTW) from time to time – I got my first copy from an Aldi supermarket in one of the Bargain Buckets. No joke. I’ve never used Vegas, but have heard good things from people who have. Personally, I use Pinnacle most of the time. It’s mostly reliable, but sometimes I have trouble with audio clicks/volume issues when uploading to Youtube. The biggest prob I’ve found in my experience, is the higher quality clip you want in the end, the more a monster of a computer you need to begin with. In the past, it’s not really mattered which software I’ve used, the computer’s still annoyingly crashed halfway through an edit..! There’s not many differences between WMM and other suites. For me, the main difference is precision, and that really only comes with experience. Hope this helps!
