It’s been 20 years since hapless manager Gordon Brittas and his team at Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre graced our screens. But, in what fans hope is a precursor to a comeback, Chris Barrie, 57, who played Gordon Brittas during the show’s run from 1991 to 1997, will be reunited with all of the BBC show’s cast for the first time in two decades, on October 2. The gang – including Harriet Thorpe who played Gordon’s under-pressure receptionist Carole who lives at the centre; Pippa Haywood, who starred as his wife Helen; and Michael Burns, who featured as the hapless, accident-prone Colin – will meet up at Ringwood Health and Leisure Centre in Hampshire, where the series used to be filmed. A source says there’s hope that the reunion may boost the chances of the programme making a television comeback. “Most of the actors would also love to do a new series of the show,” our source claims. “There is hope that the event might boost an interest. The talks with the BBC fell through last time because the writers and the BBC could not agree on the script, despite the BBC really wanting to continue the series.” Bearing in mind that the show ended with Brittas having dreamed up the whole thing, it would be interesting to see how the new one would begin… http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/chris-barrie-back-brittas-empire-11060852 Creator Topic Viewing 11 replies - 1 through 11 (of 11 total) Author Replies August 26, 2017 at 9:52 pm #220725 RidleyParticipant Why did you combine three separate people’s opinions into one though? Nothing is even slightly confirmed. September 16, 2017 at 2:12 pm #221397 JonsmadParticipant He should just wake up having dreamt the last two series, As a result of Colin’s mushroom tea. And this scene should be a hidden Extra on the dvd release where he reminds colin about that distant fact in time, in an Easter egg where only the three people who give a shit can go and find it, for the general audience they hope to Re attract they presumably don’t remember and dont need a resolution to such bullshit. September 19, 2017 at 5:51 pm #221535 esmeParticipant I heard that fans can attend the reunion from 4 to 5:30pm at the leisure centre in Ringwood. Anyone thinking of going?
