And unlike cooking it on the stove you didn’t get a bunch of dried out rice stuck to the pot. Also, basmati rice clears. Accept no substitutes. Yeah, I haven’t had to manually boil rice for a decade. I don’t know about presentation, but you can adjust it to your preferred dryness/stickiness with the water ratio and it just gets on with it. Soak and sieve beforehand if you want it fluffy rather than sticky, 2:1 ratio of water to rice in a pan, lid on, bring it to the boil and then simmer on a low heat for 10 minutes, heat off and leave in the pan until you’re ready to eat, quick fluff up with a fork before serving February 11, 2024 at 12:00 pm #292547 Future Producer of Series IX – aaaaany day nowParticipant A chef? A white-hatted ponce?! February 11, 2024 at 2:47 pm #292549 PodeyParticipant I thought the trick was just to nick his when he wasn’t looking? February 11, 2024 at 7:32 pm #292557 Spaceworm JimParticipant Jenuall, thank you so much for the soak and sieve beforehand tip, I have been making shit rice all my life and now I know why. Worried that this is coming across as sarcastic, I’m being 100% genuine. Of course, if my rice still comes out as sticky shit I’ll retract this, but if I don’t come back seeking vengeance, assume that I’m still grateful. February 11, 2024 at 10:27 pm #292561 MoonlightParticipant Basmati isn’t sticky even if you don’t sieve it, which only further proves my point that it’s the best rice. Is what I’d say if you weren’t a bunch of pedantic cunts. February 12, 2024 at 5:55 am #292572 DaveParticipant Dave genuinely doesn’t know that G&T has exchanged the niceties.
