No locations anywhere near me. I expect I will be bidding on an overpriced empty bottle on ebay in a week’s time. Who’s with me?

I wonder how long this will be available for in general. Two pubs in Leicester is good for me. During a week when my bank balance is about 40p is less good, however.

Also, no G&T story on this??

To quote myself, three days ago:

We’re not sure if we have the capacity to cover absolutely everything that appears from here on in, so do keep posting anything you spot in the comments and/or on the forum.

Promotional doodahs like this very much fall in to the category of stuff that we’d struggle to keep on top of if we were slavishly documenting everything, and that’s where threads like this are really useful. We will, however, be doing a little bit of a news round-up on Friday’s DwarfCast, and have got some Leopard Lager-related exclusives up our sleeves. We also have bottles of Leopard Lager up our sleeves.

I know the Daily Mirror voucher isn’t valid until tomorrow, but are they still available to buy from today? I’m heading out for a few friendly beverages this afternoon and I’m hoping to pick a few bottles up, but the pubs are a little out the way so won’t venture that way if not necessary. I’m working tomorrow evening from 5pm so I won’t be able to take advantage of my Daily Mirror voucher tomorrow :-(

You know, I never even thought of that. I’ve been in town today, I could’ve been and bought one. Damn my being so keen on a freebie.

Fair enough. I’ve been avoiding all the new series threads as to avoid as many spoilers as possible (I managed to go into Cured with no idea what the plot would be, hurray!), so I missed that. As you were!

The voucher will only be accepted on Friday according the paper. Unless you find a pub that goes against that then you’ll have to wait till tomorrow.

I think the idea is that it may be possible to buy one, rather than exchanging the voucher for one.

    #222871

Yeah, I can’t seem to find much information on this other than the voucher promotion. Will this be available for weeks to come? Why isn’t it even mentioned on the official website?

Bollocks. Can’t get bottles to take away from the pub. And I can’t stay cause I’ve got to go to work, so no Leopard for me. A bit gutted.

You could have ordered it and poured it out. That is you only wanted the empty bottle. That is what I’ll be doing if they won’t let me take the full unopened bottle when I pick mine up.

And when you get home you can urinate in the empty bottle, and recreate the brewing process.

No, I thought of that, but was told they don’t allow any bottles out of the premises. :(

Having promotional merchandise that you can’t actually keep does seem to somewhat defeat the purpose. No-one is buying it for the beer.

Shouldn’t it be a can anyway?

So the Mirror token essentially allows you to drink a free pint of crap lager while possibly getting a glimpse of a Leopard Lager label as the barman pours the bottle into a glass?

The Bock Biere Cafe in Manchester is letting folk take them away. My mate just picked one up for me.

I don’t know why they’re not available on the shelf. Weird theme of recent promotional Red Dwarf merchandise being prohibitively difficult or expensive to obtain.

Bet some of the pubs that thought about it will be selling the empty bottles on eBay tomorrow.

Bit shit the entire thing though really. Awful drink which only 18+ people can get from select locations in an inaccurate receptacle that you can’t keep. It’s towards the bottom of the Vindalunar scale of promotional exercises.

I’m sure you can buy replica Leopard Lager cans on the Internet somewhere.

The token specifies bottle *or* glass. No reason you can’t ask for a bottle and drink it out of that and then take it home once it is empty.

Worth mentioning that the bars and pubs are not allowed to give it away to take out the establishment as they are not an off license.

Got mine on the shelf. It may not be a can but that doesn’t really matter. A nice memento for Series XII.

There are pubs that do allow you to takeaway bottles though, why not do it through those because it’s pretty clear people want the bottle for memorabilia purposes not because it’s a quality beverage.

They should have just made a can of shandy that you could get from a newsagents.

Or failing that, just have the lager at a supermarket.

Plenty of people took the bottles home, I’m guessing they just took it and didn’t ask. Si’s downfall here was that he was too honest I think!

Like how it says wicked strength on the back but it’s 3.5% haha, can’t imagine Lister getting out of bed for anything not approaching Special Brew levels.

A nice lady at The Mirror noticed my Tweet about my not being able to get a bottle. So she asked me for my address and she’s sent me one.
Not sure whether I should actually drink it though.

I didn’t try it, I could taste it just from hearing others taste it. Like a sensory contagion.

I tried a couple of mouthful’s, but no, couldn’t cope with any more.
Just poured the rest of it down the sink and washed the bottle out. It now sits besides the TV with my toy Red Dwarf and Starbug, and occasionally gets dusted.

You mean you didn’t have a peek at the label to see who brewed it?

    #254376

It was brewed by the Bespoke Brewing Co out of Gloucestershire.

They make a range of beers, the majority ranging from terrible to bad.

Their best reviewed beer is bang average.

A different brewer to the Leopard Lager (thankfully by the sounds of it). Who is going to be cracking open a 6 pack of these?

I say go to court. They could probably fund a series off the lawsuit.
