UKTV said they’ll be posting the full list of pubs tomorrow but who has time for that? So I’ve done a bit of searching to see which pubs have spilt the beans early on social media and so far there’s… The Old Horse, Leicester Sir Robert Peel, Leicester The Lion at Basford The Coachman Inn, Scarbrough Beerd, Bristol Union Rooms, Newcastle The Victoria, Birmingham Creator Topic Viewing 46 replies - 1 through 46 (of 46 total) Author Replies October 11, 2017 at 3:16 pm #222803 Jason aka Smeg4BrainsParticipant Ma Boyles, Liverpool (I’m not going to keep posting links so I don’t get hit by the spam filter) October 11, 2017 at 6:32 pm #222818 Jason aka Smeg4BrainsParticipant The Ale House, Chelmsford B&K, Lichfield October 12, 2017 at 9:14 am #222847 bountyhunterParticipant No locations anywhere near me. I expect I will be bidding on an overpriced empty bottle on ebay in a week’s time. Who’s with me? October 12, 2017 at 11:39 am #222851 siParticipant The Devonshire, Sheffield. https://www.thedevonshiresheffield.co.uk October 12, 2017 at 11:59 am #222852 International DebrisParticipant I wonder how long this will be available for in general. Two pubs in Leicester is good for me. During a week when my bank balance is about 40p is less good, however. Also, no G&T story on this?? October 12, 2017 at 12:47 pm #222855 Ian SymesKeymaster To quote myself, three days ago: We’re not sure if we have the capacity to cover absolutely everything that appears from here on in, so do keep posting anything you spot in the comments and/or on the forum. Promotional doodahs like this very much fall in to the category of stuff that we’d struggle to keep on top of if we were slavishly documenting everything, and that’s where threads like this are really useful. We will, however, be doing a little bit of a news round-up on Friday’s DwarfCast, and have got some Leopard Lager-related exclusives up our sleeves. We also have bottles of Leopard Lager up our sleeves. October 12, 2017 at 3:33 pm #222858 pendo86Participant I know the Daily Mirror voucher isn’t valid until tomorrow, but are they still available to buy from today? I’m heading out for a few friendly beverages this afternoon and I’m hoping to pick a few bottles up, but the pubs are a little out the way so won’t venture that way if not necessary. I’m working tomorrow evening from 5pm so I won’t be able to take advantage of my Daily Mirror voucher tomorrow :-( October 12, 2017 at 4:09 pm #222859 siParticipant know the Daily Mirror voucher isn’t valid until tomorrow, but are they still available to buy from today? You know, I never even thought of that. I’ve been in town today, I could’ve been and bought one. Damn my being so keen on a freebie. October 12, 2017 at 4:21 pm #222860 International DebrisParticipant To quote myself, three days ago Fair enough. I’ve been avoiding all the new series threads as to avoid as many spoilers as possible (I managed to go into Cured with no idea what the plot would be, hurray!), so I missed that. As you were! October 12, 2017 at 4:33 pm #222865 JamesTCParticipant The voucher will only be accepted on Friday according the paper. Unless you find a pub that goes against that then you’ll have to wait till tomorrow. October 12, 2017 at 5:23 pm #222866 DaveParticipant I think the idea is that it may be possible to buy one, rather than exchanging the voucher for one. October 12, 2017 at 9:37 pm #222871 International DebrisParticipant Yeah, I can’t seem to find much information on this other than the voucher promotion. Will this be available for weeks to come? Why isn’t it even mentioned on the official website? October 13, 2017 at 10:20 am #222882 siParticipant Bollocks. Can’t get bottles to take away from the pub. And I can’t stay cause I’ve got to go to work, so no Leopard for me. A bit gutted. October 13, 2017 at 10:21 am #222883 siParticipant And I’d got up early too. October 13, 2017 at 11:10 am #222886 JamesTCParticipant You could have ordered it and poured it out. That is you only wanted the empty bottle. That is what I’ll be doing if they won’t let me take the full unopened bottle when I pick mine up. October 13, 2017 at 11:23 am #222887 Pete Part ThreeParticipant And when you get home you can urinate in the empty bottle, and recreate the brewing process. October 13, 2017 at 11:26 am #222888 siParticipant That is you only wanted the empty bottle. No, I thought of that, but was told they don’t allow any bottles out of the premises. :( October 13, 2017 at 11:29 am #222889 Pete Part ThreeParticipant No plan? No sleeves? October 13, 2017 at 12:14 pm #222890 LilyParticipant Having promotional merchandise that you can’t actually keep does seem to somewhat defeat the purpose. No-one is buying it for the beer. Shouldn’t it be a can anyway? October 13, 2017 at 12:15 pm #222891 peas_and_cornParticipant >We also have bottles of Leopard Lager up our sleeves. Put it in the fridge. October 13, 2017 at 1:07 pm #222892 DaveParticipant So the Mirror token essentially allows you to drink a free pint of crap lager while possibly getting a glimpse of a Leopard Lager label as the barman pours the bottle into a glass? October 13, 2017 at 1:31 pm #222893 curtisParticipant The Bock Biere Cafe in Manchester is letting folk take them away. My mate just picked one up for me. October 13, 2017 at 1:38 pm #222894 (deleted)Participant I don’t know why they’re not available on the shelf. Weird theme of recent promotional Red Dwarf merchandise being prohibitively difficult or expensive to obtain. October 13, 2017 at 3:16 pm #222898 GlenTokyoParticipant Bet some of the pubs that thought about it will be selling the empty bottles on eBay tomorrow. Bit shit the entire thing though really. Awful drink which only 18+ people can get from select locations in an inaccurate receptacle that you can’t keep. It’s towards the bottom of the Vindalunar scale of promotional exercises. I’m sure you can buy replica Leopard Lager cans on the Internet somewhere. October 13, 2017 at 3:28 pm #222899 JamesTCParticipant >So the Mirror token essentially allows you to drink a free pint of crap lager while possibly getting a glimpse of a Leopard Lager label as the barman pours the bottle into a glass? The token specifies bottle *or* glass. No reason you can’t ask for a bottle and drink it out of that and then take it home once it is empty. Worth mentioning that the bars and pubs are not allowed to give it away to take out the establishment as they are not an off license. Got mine on the shelf. It may not be a can but that doesn’t really matter. A nice memento for Series XII. October 13, 2017 at 3:32 pm #222900 GlenTokyoParticipant >Worth mentioning that the bars and pubs are not allowed to give it away to take out the establishment as they are not an off license. There are pubs that do allow you to takeaway bottles though, why not do it through those because it’s pretty clear people want the bottle for memorabilia purposes not because it’s a quality beverage. They should have just made a can of shandy that you could get from a newsagents. October 13, 2017 at 3:33 pm #222901 GlenTokyoParticipant Or failing that, just have the lager at a supermarket. October 14, 2017 at 3:54 am #222922 JoParticipant Plenty of people took the bottles home, I’m guessing they just took it and didn’t ask. Si’s downfall here was that he was too honest I think! October 14, 2017 at 12:31 pm #222934 International DebrisParticipant Does it taste that bad then? October 14, 2017 at 1:19 pm #222935 GlenTokyoParticipant One on eBay atm https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F122753685855 Like how it says wicked strength on the back but it’s 3.5% haha, can’t imagine Lister getting out of bed for anything not approaching Special Brew levels. October 14, 2017 at 1:54 pm #222936 Plastic PercyParticipant Funny, as the can prop says 5.1% which is pretty good. October 14, 2017 at 2:47 pm #222940 siParticipant Si’s downfall here was that he was too honest I think! So may that be a lesson to you all. Oh well. Never mind. There’s more to RD than bowze. October 23, 2017 at 6:32 pm #223288 siParticipant A nice lady at The Mirror noticed my Tweet about my not being able to get a bottle. So she asked me for my address and she’s sent me one. Not sure whether I should actually drink it though. October 23, 2017 at 7:38 pm #223293 Ian SymesKeymaster Don’t, it’s horrible. October 23, 2017 at 8:09 pm #223295 siParticipant So I heard. Hence my not being sure. September 18, 2019 at 11:33 pm #254286 International DebrisParticipant Anyone who still has a bottle of this: who brewed it? September 19, 2019 at 1:41 pm #254338 (deleted)Participant Armitage Shanks. September 19, 2019 at 11:45 pm #254348 siParticipant Armitage Shanks. Christ, it was fucking awful, wasn’t it? September 20, 2019 at 11:02 am #254357 (deleted)Participant I didn’t try it, I could taste it just from hearing others taste it. Like a sensory contagion. Teetotalism has its upsides, clearly. September 20, 2019 at 6:58 pm #254371 siParticipant I tried a couple of mouthful’s, but no, couldn’t cope with any more. Just poured the rest of it down the sink and washed the bottle out. It now sits besides the TV with my toy Red Dwarf and Starbug, and occasionally gets dusted. September 20, 2019 at 7:00 pm #254372 siParticipant AARGH! AARGH! There’s a rogue apostrophe in my last comment and I can’t edit it! *sobs pathetically* September 20, 2019 at 8:08 pm #254373 International DebrisParticipant You mean you didn’t have a peek at the label to see who brewed it? September 20, 2019 at 8:58 pm #254376 GlenTokyoParticipant It was brewed by the Bespoke Brewing Co out of Gloucestershire. They make a range of beers, the majority ranging from terrible to bad. Their best reviewed beer is bang average. May 11, 2024 at 12:53 am #294926 Stephen AbootmanParticipant A different brewer to the Leopard Lager (thankfully by the sounds of it). Who is going to be cracking open a 6 pack of these? https://twitter.com/TwiceBrewedCo/status/1788870654734827592 https://twicebrewed.co.uk/products/shipwrecked-comatose-mango-juice-pale-3-0-440ml-can-1?variant=43414423535768 May 11, 2024 at 1:43 am #294927 GlenTokyoParticipant I hope GNP aren’t feeling litigious. May 12, 2024 at 5:46 am #294964 MoonlightParticipant I say go to court. They could probably fund a series off the lawsuit.
