July 21, 2010 at 6:16 pm #110259 Danny StephensonKeymaster A great series. I hope they do another. They’ve just wrapped on shooting Psychoville Series 2. There is a Halloween episode in October and then the new series is in 2011. Looking forward to it. July 21, 2010 at 8:55 pm #110260 ChrisMParticipant Really? Great news! I’m so out of the loop. And yes.. I can see a Halloween special working well… July 22, 2010 at 12:10 am #110261 pfmParticipant Just read an interview with Jeremy Dyson and he said the League are getting together for something for Radio 4 at Halloween where they stay in a haunted house. Doesn’t sound like it’s anything scripted but it’ll still be the first time all four of them have done something together for years, since the Christmas panto really. Personally I don’t think Psychoville went dark enough (the first episode threatened to, like the Sowerbutts’ seemed like they could have more sinister relationship…but then later they were more ridiculous), definitely not as dark as the League stuff, and that’s got to be partly related to Jeremy not being involved – he really is the sickest of the four of them! Maybe the special and second series can take a darker path… Oh yeah the end of the first series was pretty bad. I hated the scene with them all gathered in the hospital. May 5, 2011 at 11:51 pm #112215 siParticipant Epic, wasn’t it? I really enjoyed that tonight – Great stuff. Hattie, jeremy and silent singer seem interesting new characters, though the ending took me completely by surprise. Terrific. May 6, 2011 at 12:56 am #112216 RidleyParticipant Needs more Grace Andrews. ;) May 6, 2011 at 2:37 am #112219 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I loved that to be honest. Is Joy really dead? I can kind of see why they’d kill her off, I think they’d done all they could do that was laugh/drama-worthy with the character… but I still really want it to turn out that she didn’t die. Can’t wait for next week’s! May 6, 2011 at 7:00 am #112221 hummingbirdParticipant I enjoyed that immensely. Loved Jeremy and silent singer. David and Maureen were wonderful as always. I agree entirely that Joy can’t really be dead – no way. It’s going to interesting to see where the whole Grace Andrews thing goes. May 6, 2011 at 7:22 am #112222 DaveParticipant > Is Joy really dead? http://www.focce.co.uk/merchandise.html#testimonials May 6, 2011 at 8:13 am #112224 hummingbirdParticipant > http://www.focce.co.uk/merchandise.html#testimonials Nice find. Some good advice for Redhead85 here: http://www.freddyfruitcake.co.uk/site.html May 6, 2011 at 8:24 am #112225 genericnerdyusernameParticipant > http://www.focce.co.uk/merchandise.html#testimonials That really freaked me out at the end there. But thanks! :) May 6, 2011 at 9:23 am #112226 Danny StephensonKeymaster Yeah, I wasn’t quite sure what was going on there, that was quite unnerving… May 6, 2011 at 12:21 pm #112227 siParticipant And if you didn’t get that from the clip, I did leave a bit of a clue in my post last night. I hope Joy isn’t dead, too, though I notice she’s not in the cast for next week’s. Mind you, Robert wasn’t in last night’s, so that’s nothing to go on. Although the ‘Experience’ section of the interactive website thing does list Joy as ‘Deceased’… May 6, 2011 at 1:27 pm #112229 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I’m just going to go ahead and assume she’s dead then. There’s always flashbacks or resurrections of characters you thought were dead etc. Dawn French really is fantabulous in that role, I must say. My computer really just confused me; fantabulous is coming up here as a non-existent word, but Word is reporting it as a real one. I thought it wasn’t a word, to be honest. Answers to the usual address etc… May 6, 2011 at 3:05 pm #112230 ChrisMParticipant I enjoyed it a lot. It’s worrying just how much I forgot from the previous series though! I had to look up Jennifer for example. (She was familiar but I couldn’t quite place her.) I’ll try to grab the first series DVD set at some point. And yeah, I think Joy is dead. The killer seemed to make sure at the end, there. Of course, that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of her as genericnerdyetc said. They’re no opposed to a bit of paranormal stuff in this programme. I know much of what seemed to be paranormal turned out to be have an explanation (people playing tricks, insanity, etc) there was some legitimately unexplainable stuff in the last series. (The telekinesis for example.) And I like the suggestions that the mad stuff might not be just that. May 6, 2011 at 3:09 pm #112231 ChrisMParticipant My computer really just confused me; fantabulous is coming up here as a non-existent word, but Word is reporting it as a real one. My latest word processor, Jarte doesn’t see contractions as proper words. For example it picks up “isn’t” as two wrong words. ‘isn’ and “‘t”. How silly. It’s not a bad little wp considering it’s a freebie though. I tried Abiword too, and while that’s even nicer in some ways, it keeps crashing, and doesn’t perform automatic saves! May 6, 2011 at 6:00 pm #112232 pfmParticipant ‘Not now, Silent Singer!’ That was said quite a bit at work today…Reece and Steve strike again! :D May 6, 2011 at 6:20 pm #112234 clemParticipant I thought the Halloween episode was quite weak but last night’s was excellent. Grace Andrews was very funny, as was Jelly, Tealeaf and Lomax being questioned by the “pig” in the graveyard. May 6, 2011 at 6:34 pm #112235 siParticipant I thought David singing Les Mis was brilliant. May 6, 2011 at 6:59 pm #112236 Ian SymesKeymaster Stop blowing your own trumpet. May 14, 2011 at 9:32 am #112079 Ian SymesKeymaster Next time I go to a fancy dress party, I’m bagsying Tina Turner. May 14, 2011 at 10:52 am #112080 Danny StephensonKeymaster I was agape at that. She reminded me of him: May 14, 2011 at 12:37 pm #112081 Ian SymesKeymaster I’ve been on that set. May 14, 2011 at 4:41 pm #112083 Danny StephensonKeymaster Shush you. I’m jealous that you met them. May 14, 2011 at 7:23 pm #112299 JonsmadParticipant Dead Dwarf. May 14, 2011 at 8:45 pm #112302 ChrisMParticipant Dead Dwarf. Hur, hur! Much as I liked the episode, I kinda wished they hadn’t done that. It worked for the story, but it would have been nice to see more of the character considering we only just met up with him again. That and I predicted this would happen and I’d have liked to have been surprised. Creates a nice extra mystery though which is good. Who did it? There’s a couple of suspects, who might be part of the same organisation… One thing I like about Psychoville, along with all the dark humour and wacky characterisation is the mystery stuff. May 14, 2011 at 10:12 pm #112303 Danny StephensonKeymaster Imelda Staunton’s character is brilliant. I just wanted to say that. ‘I dont like this.’ ‘Ma’am?’ ‘All these bits of paper. It’s too messy, I want to feel like Judi Dench, I want to be doing this with my hands *waves hands in air at imaginary screen*, we can DO THAT, can’t we?’ ‘We’ll look into it ma’am’ May 15, 2011 at 5:58 pm #112313 hummingbirdParticipant > Imelda Staunton’s character is brilliant. I just wanted to say that. Her character is by far the most interesting so far. I’m starting to be a little disappointed that the old characters aren’t being developed further. But I expect that’s probably the point, as the idea seems to be to kill them all off one by one. May 15, 2011 at 7:34 pm #112316 ChrisMParticipant I don’t think that will happen with all the older characters. I think we’ll see a lot more of the man-child and his crazy mother. (Although her days are numbered.) And probably a good deal more of Lomax and Tea-leaf, what with the extra mystery concerning the weird stuff, and messages arriving in the post. As for Mr Jelly… I have an idea he’ll be around for a while too, but then again, that’s pretty much all of them, and there’ll probably be at least one more death to go. The deaths of two in such a small period of time certainly sets the precedent that nobody is safe though. While I’d have liked to have seen more of those characters, I think that may be a good thing for the series as a whole. I wonder if those deaths were always intentional though, or if they were written in because the current actors either wanted out or had other commitments? May 20, 2011 at 10:48 pm #112337 ChrisMParticipant Spoilers: …. And probably a good deal more of Lomax and Tea-leaf, what with the extra mystery concerning the weird stuff, and messages arriving in the post. Course… I’ve been known to be wrong… Quite a twist with Lomax, in more ways than one. Smashing episode, but I do hope they don’t kill of ALL the original characters. May 21, 2011 at 6:22 pm #112338 clemParticipant “Augustus Gloop” was brilliant. And I like how Imelda Staunton’s in it, and they keep mentioning Cranford because Shahrouz’s boyfriend is working on it. May 21, 2011 at 8:16 pm #112339 siParticipant Hattie is brilliantly hideous. The thing is, I can’t see Jeremy or Hattie being bumped off – they’re not part of Grace’s investigation yet – so that only leaves David,Maureen and Jelly. It’s certainly very involving stuff. Great. May 26, 2011 at 9:34 am #112357 Danny StephensonKeymaster I’m annoyed that Lomax died… I really liked his character. Unless they’ve got something else up their sleeve… May 26, 2011 at 9:54 am #112358 Ian SymesKeymaster Yeah, he’s the first to have died where I’ve actually cared that they’re not going to be there any more. Also, three original characters have died in the first three episodes… and there’s only three left. If I was Mr Jelly, I’d be watching my back right now. That said, I’ve a feeling there’s more to Maureen’s illness than there seems. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out she’s been lied to, or that it’s not a tumour but something else that’s in her body… May 26, 2011 at 11:20 am #112359 Danny StephensonKeymaster A child born to her and David? That would be fucked up May 26, 2011 at 2:40 pm #112363 siParticipant Do we all know about the change of tx for episode six? Due to the return of Mock The Week on Thursday 9th June at 10pm, the final episode of Psychoville 2 will be shown on Monday 6th June (at 10pm, I think) instead, with a repeat showing later on Thursday night, 11.20pm I think. Just thought I’d share. Twitter teaches me some good things, sometimes. May 26, 2011 at 3:14 pm #112364 pfmParticipant Oh, how I marvel at what amusement the BBC continues to spring upon its viewership… May 26, 2011 at 11:16 pm #112369 genericnerdyusernameParticipant I’m so glad that neither Jelly nor David died. Just wanted to say that. May 26, 2011 at 11:34 pm #112370 Nick RParticipant > Due to the return of Mock The Week Ah yes, the Seven Mockers. May 27, 2011 at 12:01 pm #112375 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Fucked. Up. May 27, 2011 at 11:44 pm #112383 siParticipant “Fucked up” was my reaction to episode 4. Just bizarre, yet compelling stuff. For all the sheer madness involved in Jelly and David’s seperate adventures at Sunnyvale, and Jeremy’s saga with Silent Singer, and the somewhat queasy goings-on with Hattie – I was left *really* wanting to know what the fuck was going to happen next. This is a brilliant series. May 28, 2011 at 4:44 pm #112391 ChrisMParticipant I was a bit puzzled as to why Mr Jelly went to help the old lady and why the Scottish assassin turned up. I know Jelly and the lady worked together on occasion, I just wondered why he specifically thought she was in danger too (and rightfully as it turned out). Or what Mrs. Wren’s connection was to the locket for that matter. Then I read elsewhere that she was at Ravenhill too. That passed me by somehow. Another very enjoyable episode though. And it was good all the main characters survived for once! May 30, 2011 at 5:34 pm #112409 clemParticipant She wasn’t a patient at Ravenhill though. IIRC she only ended up there with Jelly at the end of the first series because she was handcuffed to him as part of a magic trick he was performing at the old people’s home where she lived, and the key was eaten by another resident.
