Howdy doodly do, folks! As we’ve now had 2 weeks of the Difficult Daily, I thought it might be prudent to move discussions of the day’s puzzle and our scores to a dedicated thread, so we’re not just bloating the comments of the “Reintroducing Smegle” post all the time. Let that be for more general feedback (or bug reports).

And of course, if you get any share-worthy frames in Casual Continuous, feel free to post those here too!

Somewhat tricky, but once I’d got the right series I felt confident I could narrow it down enough not to fail.

Also, what do you think: should this thread be spoiler-free, or not? I’m leaning towards not – because I generally prefer to do the Difficult Daily myself before hearing about others’ scores anyway, and it would be cool to speak openly without having to wait until the next day – but only if there’s consensus on it.

Yep, dishevelled Rimmer was a giveaway. First guess was way off. I was thinking of the strange subfusc corridors on the DNA ship.

However, apparently I’m now on my longest streak so far (11) so that’s pleasing.

Me too, though the rest didn’t seem to be cast colours.

The blue square was legit set detail, the greenish ones less so (other ones have had random green edges too, like Cat in the corridor in The End).

I thought it might be a dishevelled Rimmer from Queeg or TFTM, but overthought that the latter should have more red in it.

Same here. Top button undone and loose tie could only be Thanks for the Memory.

First guess was Terrorform. Thought it might be Kryten at the very beginning just on a hunch.

I thought it was from the opening of Stoke. The first square looked like blue sky with someone sky diving or the tail of the alligator.

I then clocked the hat but couldn’t remember the poxy episode.

Count me among those who thought the background was sky and guessed Stoke to start! Then I went for Justice because of the outdoor bit that’s easy to forget about, then I was pretty much just guessing until I got it right (the hat should have been a giveaway, but I only had enough confidence to rule out Camille).

Oh. I knew it was primarily deleted scene but I thought a small part of the setting made it into the actual episode. I guess not. So that was either a waste of a turn, or a lucky mistake depending on how you look at it!

I blame G&T for commentating on deleted scenes in the same podcasts as the episodes themselves.

(Yes I know, pathetic in comparison with anyone else but I haven’t had this length streak on any of these types of game, ever – it’s only thanks to the habit of checking in on G&T every day and seeing this thread that’s enabled me to remember to then do the Smegle every day.)

I’ve only watched that episode twice, but it feels very familiar. More than The Promised Land or other more recent ones that I’ve seen twice (ones I’ve only watched once like Dear Dave and Fathers and Suns are more vague).

I give shows full attention when watching, I guess my recall just declined after 2012.

Sorry, wasn’t intended to be self-deprecating.  I’m actually ridiculously chuffed at even having done something for that many days straight at all, let alone getting it right.  My longest ever Wordle streak was about 5, not because I kept losing but because I kept forgetting about it so it never actually became daily for me.  (I’d catch up with the ones I’d missed via web.archive.org, and that didn’t keep stats.)

I thought it was the pyjamas, but a brown square made me think he was talking to Cat in whichever episode Cat wears grey in. Which turns out to be the same episode anyway and not the one I guessed where he’s actually pink.

Hah, first guess was Rimmer’s arm from the Mayor of Warsaw scene. Then I got the right episode, but thought it was Cat when he’s “courting”. Think I was confusing it with the suit he’s wearing when he emerges from Rimmer’s wardrobe….
