The End (Remastered version) and Backwards

Is it appearances by the creators of Red Dwarf? The real life ones I mean, so BTE doesn’t count. There’s that shot of Rob getting an idea in Backwards, and I think Doug is one of the attendees added to McIntyre’s funeral.

Is it how Holly announces the Polymorph / Kryten hand tarantula?

she tells Rimmer/Lister not to panic and then tells Rimmer/Lister that she lost track of it

    I was this year’s old when I learned…

If anything he’d be reflected in the Dave era, given he directed those.

When confirming the fact, I enjoyed seeing the historic Wikipedia edits and discussions around a couple of fans insisting it wasn’t heads added to the funeral scene, but rather “shuffling rocks” or “amorphous blobs,” such was their faith in Remastered’s logic.

Hang on, if Remastered eps are being considered as separate entities, that means that pretty much all the previous links involving Series 1-III episodes apply to 3 or 4 episodes and are no longer valid.

    #300503

No, they’re just variations on a single episode, otherwise pre-watershed cuts and edits for commercial channels like Dave (that apply to every single episode) would invalidate the entire game.

The mention of episode variations is just to give people a clue and make it clear that any changes relating to that version are included.

An adult Rimmer sibling? When they have to be so narrowed down, I feel it’s probably not it.

Lister meeting a Rimmer sibling? Somehow feels better.

White Hole and Tikka to Ride (clem) It’s about two people

Specifically, references to both Laurel and Hardy. If it was just one of them, there’d also be Meltdown.

Bingo! Although nobody actually mentions Stan Laurel by name in Meltdown anyway.

Not exactly what I was thinking, but it’s close enough!

It was just “the current crew interacting with real members of Rimmer’s family”. All other appearances by Rimmer’s family members are flashbacks, recordings, simulations, hallucinations, polymorphs and such.

Given the setting, maybe this one is more “I’m surprised there were that many” than “I’m surprised it’s only those 2”. The same metric applied to the other regulars only yields 1 episode apiece for Cat, Kryten and Lister, and 0 for Holly and Kochanski – assuming that you fudge it to not count Lister as Kochanski’s blood relative and both Lister and Kochanski as Lister’s.

… you know, I don’t think until now I’ve internalised “Kochanski is Jim and Bexley’s grandma” as a fact, but of course it is.

Well if we’re going all-out on the pedantry, then Howard Rimmer is also a simulation in Trojan. As is Arnold Rimmer.

WAIT. I realise this one was done and dusted days ago, but is the answer football style chants? Because if so, I’ve just remembered Rimmer gloating to the tune of Amazing Grace during his draughts game in Queeg.

Hadn’t considered that – for me that probably doesn’t count because he’s saying his own name, the others are actual terrace chants.

Plus it would ruin my puzzle.

They’re the only times Lister asks Holly to plot a course, but the first one isn’t only in the Remastered version of The End.
