Interesting. I feel like if it’s diegetic to some extent (like Lister’s recap in Tikka, or the Hollister logs for BITR), then probably yes. If it’s just preceding the main action, such as Nanarchy and Pete Part Two, then no.

Now you answer, I realise I disagree with the distinction. If the puzzle was “Out of Time and Tikka to Ride” and the solution was “They’re the only 2 episodes where Rimmer shoots at the time drive with a bazookoid”, the arguable diegesis of the recap wouldn’t make it feel like any less of a cheat, to me.

    Quarantine and Entangled?

Cat and Kryten, only those two, speaking in unison?

    Very good.

    Gunmen and Rimmerworld?

    Gunmen and Rimmerworld?

I presume we’re discounting explicit connected elements like the simulant ship that they return to?

I agree, but if the answer was “episodes where we see Rimmer shoot at the time drive with a bazookoid”, it’d be right.

Cat’s reused outfit is similarly explicit.

    Gunmen and Rimmerworld?

The only episodes broadcast next to Emohawk?

That time Rimmerworld was replaced with Dimension Jump aside, that is.

White Hole and Tikka to Ride.

Both episodes open on a distorted view of a characters face from the POV of another electronic device.

Full cyan episode titles. (Yes, I was planning an annoying one, but it was still ongoing).

Not what I was thinking, but very good. I had to check if the view was indeed distorted. It is.

Ah, but you’re forgetting Gunmen, which (being an AR simulation video game) is also technically Lister being viewed through an electronic device. And with more distortion than I remembered.

The only two episodes with three character titles, yes!

D.N.A. Is officially 6 characters – though arguably the DVD does styalise it as DNA

Me2 and DNA – the two shortest episode titles people nevertheless generally get wrong, by not doing the 2 as an exponent or putting in the full stops.

On that note, petition to add a superscript button to the G&T text editor, so I don’t have to switch to Code View and manually add the “sup” tags every time I want to type “Me2” correctly.

Complete off topic but in Camille, Rimmer has absolutely no issue bringing back what he believes to be another hologram and isn’t at all concerned about Red Dwarf not being able to sustain her.

Yet in Quarantine he immediately objects to rescuing a hologram and being faced with the possibility of likely having to share holo-resources with it.

Rimmer must have assumed there was already some sort of solution when he saw her already on Starbug, but yeah rather hard to have a physical relationship when you can’t both be generated at the same time. Or perhaps in Camille they remember Me² but forgot it again by Qurantine.

It’s true that Rimmer had no reason to believe Lanstrom wasn’t hot.

The only episodes to feature an enormous, sausage-shaped helicopter decapitating Brad Pitt over a vat of boiling semen, while a microscopic pair of sunglasses invents a new, exciting brand of hairspray made entirely out of a mammal’s urine?

Hey. The ask was for wrong answers, not the most wrong answer.

Although I’d argue that if it’s something in neither episode, that’s less wrong in a way, because the episodes do have it in common, just the absence of it rather than the presence of it.

    Me2 & Quarantine

Episode #6 and Episode #28 are both perfect numbers.

The factors of Me² are The End, Future Echoes, and Balance of Power, which all sum to Me². The factors of Quarantine are The End, Future Echoes, Waiting for God, Kryten, and Marooned, which all sum to Quarantine.
