Yes, I love the show (I always think of it as a single show despite the distinction by title) and did a full rewatch recently. It still holds up great, and it’s interesting to compare it to The Thick Of It (which I also did a full rewatch of just before that).

It’s a great example of cracking writing being elevated even higher by the performances. Everything just works.

Absolutely immaculate television. Superb satire but also wonderful farcical sitcom at the same time. Time to get that box set I think.

Sir Arnold gets overlooked sometimes but he is more evil than Sir Humphrey.

Sir Arnold is able to get away scot-free with advising Hacker’s predecessor as PM to shoot striking workers and he ends up heading the Campaign for Freedom of Information – the latter is purely so he can stifle the opponents of the established way of things while pretending to have defected. Cunning as a shithouse rat.
