Maybe not but we’ll see, people seemed to enjoy posting a few of these in the latest “Series 8 is shit” thread so I thought I’d spin it out into its own thing! Mainly revisited this as I stumbled across a good one for Cat earlier: So yeah, share yours here – maybe you have ones you’ve already discovered or perhaps you could waste significant portions of your day looking for new ones, why the hell not!? I mean we can be lenient about the joins not being 100% seamless, but in this case it completely changes angles. Dr. No-Loop. FletcherParticipant Stephen, why are half of yours looping GIFs and half just normal animated GIFs? Huh? They’re all looping GIFS, aren’t they? I don’t understand what the difference is compared to others posted. February 8, 2025 at 8:53 pm #302607 International DebrisParticipant The idea is that they’re meant to make an unbroken loop (or as close as possible), whereas, for example, Rimmer kicking Death in the balls and Lister and Kryten running away from Pete have obvious beginning and end points. February 8, 2025 at 9:19 pm #302609 Nick RParticipant I thought Epideme might be a good candidate for a loop, but it doesn’t really work because the floating screen moves. Although I did discover that his first shot features an almost complete cycle of the screen’s motion back to its starting position: I did find this later in the episode: February 8, 2025 at 10:03 pm #302610 DaveParticipant February 9, 2025 at 12:20 am #302612 TechnopeasantParticipant I like how dog leads have become a fashion accessory in their evolved times Who’s to say Deb doesn’t still use it? I’m willing to go out on a limb. February 12, 2025 at 10:18 am #302714 DaveParticipant I honestly feel like this is one of the most beautiful sequences the show has ever done. I’d love to see more of this kind of atmospheric mood-setting stuff now that the CGI quality and cost permits it. It’s the kind of thing that really would have added to the lonely vibe of the show in the early Series 1/2 days. (No, I’m not asking for re-remastered, just saying.)
