EITHER THAT OR HE FORGOT TO ERASE THIS TEXT. IF I’M HONEST, I THINK HE JUST FORGOT. Thought it’d be a good idea to make a thread devoted to creative projects themed around the show. I’ll start with a video I tweeted not long after TPL that Doug himself gave a like (fuck you, I win G&T) where I tried to replicate the grayscale effect as originally envisioned. Then we have an incredibly stupid parody of Remastered from a couple years back: And finally for now, a CG Starbug fly-by I put together a decade ago (not my model): I’m not crazy about the lens flares but I got the lighting pretty good in a way I’ve never since been able to replicate. I can use adult bases, but I’ve used SP Studio for years now, it’s got loads of cool different features, that and I’m sort of used to it. I think because the adults have more visible facial features, that’d allow for the characters to be more recognisable. So yeah, I’ll have a go at some adult versions too. What I do is make the base in SP Studio then draw all the unique elements on. Didn’t find hairstyles appropriate enough to match Chris’ so I drew them from references. May 29, 2026 at 11:03 am #321453 DaveParticipant June 13, 2026 at 9:00 pm #322492 siParticipant Making South Park versions of Red Dwarf characters, started with Rimmer and so far, I’ve done his general looks across the BBC era. I remember messing about with the idea of doing a Dwarf Park cartoon on the coach back from Dimension Jump with Danny 24 years ago. June 14, 2026 at 9:18 am #322545 PodeyParticipant Were they printed in BTL? I’m almost certain those are the drawings I mentioned seeing. Added an updated Starbug to the bare wall in my childhood bedroom… … messed up the perspective on the rear legs but never mind. June 14, 2026 at 9:34 am #322547 DaveParticipant That rear back leg is always a killer in three-quarter perspective. You instinctively want to draw it near the thrusters underneath, but it should technically go much further out even though it never looks quite right. So a degree of fudging is acceptable I think! Oh I haven’t checked this thread in a bit. Go ahead! I don’t feel like it’d be stepping on my toes. In fact, I forgot about my South Park thing there, should continue that. When I posted it, I thought “This is probably gonna be shite compared to what everyone else has posted in the thread” June 14, 2026 at 5:53 pm #322582 Professor FlibbleParticipant I remember messing about with the idea of doing a Dwarf Park cartoon on the coach back from Dimension Jump with Danny 24 years ago. That looks great! June 20, 2026 at 12:42 pm #323065 gerrydelaselParticipant When a grown man gets bored. It’s surprisingly a LOT of work to draw these from scratch…! July 23, 2026 at 4:30 pm #325329 DaveParticipant That’s perfect. July 24, 2026 at 1:05 am #325343 TechnopeasantParticipant I don’t want to imagine Trey Parker attempting a Liverpudlian accent. July 24, 2026 at 12:45 pm #325358 PodeyParticipant That rear back leg is always a killer in three-quarter perspective. You instinctively want to draw it near the thrusters underneath, but it should technically go much further out even though it never looks quite right. So a degree of fudging is acceptable I think! and yeah, technically that far corner leg should not be visible because the foot would be about where the near leg connects at the front, but it just feels wrong not to be able to see it! Sometimes you do have to fudge the perspective a bit to give an image more impact, like this (unsuccessful) Dredd cover pitch I sent in a while back… I wanted his fists to be quite imposing like they were coming forward to punch the reader but, obviously, if you actually rendered this in 3D they would be MASSIVE compared the front end of the bike. August 20, 2026 at 3:17 pm #326323 DaveParticipant Have been noodling around with a version of the Series 1-2 theme on piano. August 20, 2026 at 6:46 pm #326334 PodeyParticipant Very nice! I learned it myself on piano as a kid but that’s way beyond anything I ever managed to plonk out. August 20, 2026 at 9:12 pm #326343 DaveParticipant Very nice! I learned it myself on piano as a kid but that’s way beyond anything I ever managed to plonk out. Thanks! You can go straight from that into the honky-tonk Western version from Gunmen, which makes for a nice contrast.
