I live in Gateshead and saw Toy Story 4 in the cinema the day the big AA Starbug appeared next to the Angel of the North. I regretted not going there instead as 4 isn’t a patch on the first three, which are a fantastic trilogy. Not really arsed about the new one.

Reading this, I’m not sure I ever got that joke. Can’t remember the last time I would’ve seen it, but I was 8 when it came out, and watched it loads as a kid, and I think I just heard it as Woody mangling his name into something nonsensical to belittle him.

The only other example I can think of as a British kid where I would’ve heard ‘lite beer’ is near the start of Back To The Future, which I maybe didn’t see for at least another couple of years?

You pretty much did get the joke then. The point is just that Woody is disrespecting Buzz by deliberately getting his name wrong. Although the name he says is actual words, the meaning of those words isn’t really relevant. There’s nothing inherently bad about a lite/light beer! (Excepting certain brands which periodically inhabit the “Disgusting beer” chair like Bud Light.)
