He then Googled VS, found his band’s Myspace page, and got the phone number for one of his bandmates. He then left an answerphone message complaining about whatever it was that VS said.
Random Person on Twitter – “Come on now Danny ! When are yous doin another Red Dwarf Sir ???” Danny John’Jules in reply – “I’ve just got off the phone to Doug Naylor and the wait could soon be over.”

Thats more or less it. He saw i’d said that he seemed to be bitter (what with the statement about his book and all) and he phoned my drummer, James, thinking it was me. Apparently they talked for quite a while, or so James keeps reminding me anyway.

I, for one, hope things are smoothed over and Norman ends up in the (inevitable) new series. I know we rip on him for being an arsehole sometimes, but everybody involved in the show seems to accept that he is a grumpy, moaning git by nature so I wonder if there is any ill feeling, or if it’s just “Norm being Norm”. I’d like to see him back.

I honestly don’t see what he’s done that warrants being chosen over Hattie, who’s been a model of professionalism and has never said a word about being overlooked when Norman was brought back for VII, or about being practically airbrushed from history in the Red Dwarf Night documentary, or about not getting the call for Back to Earth. Whereas if any of those things had happened to Norman (well, the latter one did, but still) we’d never have heard the end of it. He burned his bridges when he said things like “I will never do Red Dwarf again as I cannot work with these people”, or flat out called Doug (by implication) a liar. Even if he’s had a change of heart himself, why should anyone involved with RD give him the time of day? What has he done to deserve it? Anyway, let’s not turn this into another Norman thread. Happy times, people! I’ve a feeling from all this we may be very close to some Actual News…

BUt yes, it would be nice if it were possible. Audience recordings – yes Again, obviously yes. WOuld be nice to see an episode filmed as it’s something a lot of people around my age missed out on. A little more gag-based than BtE – yes I think this is obviously going to be the case. BTE wouldn’t be as poignant as it was with more gags.
