UKG2’s 100% Red Dwarf Weekend News Posted by John Hoare on 15th September 2006, 01:25 Look! It’s exciting! They’re showing all of Series 2 from 9pm on Saturday and Sunday! And each night they repeat the same episode only two hours later! Isn’t it great? I’ve never seen them before! Meanwhile, their website insists on calling Series 2 Red Dwarf VIII. And it’s nice to see their badly-written article on the series again. Holly brought the Cat to life, did he? Lister takes Kryten’s guilt chip out “frequently”, does he? (As opposed to, erm, once.) The smeg = smegma story, without taking into consideration that there are conflicting origins of the word given by the Rob and Doug? A 1993 date given for the US pilot, instead of 1992? No mention of the second pilot? Chloe “Annette”? Oh, and there’s the usual emphasis on the budget increasing, which as the DVD doccos prove, is overplayed. Yeah, look, I know they’re small inaccuracies, but added up over an entire article, it doesn’t come across too well. Mind you, how you can call something a “100% Red Dwarf Weekend”, when all that means is showing Series 2 twice over, is beyond me. And why not dig out something that hasn’t been repeated three million times before? The sad thing is, with a bit of effort they could have produced something worth watching. Just something of added value. Last time they managed this pretty well. But this time there’s nothing. I’m sorry, but this is just lazy scheduling.
