Teaser Time Again News Posted by Ian Symes on 11th October 2017, 11:15 In what would appear to be now a thing that happens regularly on a Wednesday morning, UKTV have released a preview clip for The One Where Everyone’s Kryten. You know, the episode after the episode that they’re currently focusing the huge marketing campaigns on. Here it is: As with last week, I’m going to hold off on the basis that I’ll be watching the full episode tomorrow. The question remains, however – what time will I be watching it tomorrow? We still don’t know whether it’ll be before or after Cured makes its Dave debut. We’re hoping it’s after, just to keep things as tidy as possible, and to make the broadcast premiere seem like slightly less of an anti-climax. Either way, we’ll get our discussion thread ready to go live as soon as the episode does, and brace ourselves for an entire day of F5 action…
No doubt the lighting in the sleeping quarters will please some who complained it looked too dark, last week.
Look pretty nice aesthetically from the YouTube thumbnail but I’m not going to watch it This comment is worthwhile
remember when Lister hated “all that master-servant business” and insisted on getting his own breakfast? i get that he’s acting like that for the purpose of a pretty funny joke, but it does feel slightly out of character to see him relying on Kryten so much
The next one is the krytens episode right? so all the crew ordering kryten around is likely to come into play later on. Its basically foreshadow. It does seem abit out of character for lister to order kryten around and kryten to act like a frustrated mum but the characters act a certain way when the story needs them too.
Not sure if it’s completely out of character, Lister’s always taken advantage of Kryten’s love of household chores (e.g. expecting him to hand-scrub his long-john gussets, “I’m not doing my own smegging ironing” etc). Lister’s reliance on Kryten has definitely become more prominent in the Dave era though (“that champagne’s not going to open itself”, the “little socky” business in Twentica, most of Krysis). I suppose you could put that down to Lister getting a bit older and lazier.

In the Dave era the Dwarfers have the free run of the ship for the first time since Series V, and unlike then the mission is no longer to get back to Earth. It makes sense that Lister would have grown more complacent.
Its basically foreshadow. Please, do go on. What is this “foreshadow” of which you speak? You will work it out :)
It’s got laughs so I’m in! :D I’m gonna go on record and say Siliconia is gonna be the best episode of XI and XII combined. :)
Lister only hated that master/servant crap for one episode, he’s quite happy to have Kryten make him food and do the washing up in plenty of other classic episodes. Plus he enjoys it, and wouldn’t you let him do things for you on a lazy day?
I get the impression Lister was always very reluctant to order kryten around but also too lazy to do things himself.
The Lister cut is a great visual that was totally spoiled by the choice of thumbnail. I like the different lighting scheme from the standard Series XI bunkroom lighting. It adds a nice extra level of visual distinction, and does that much more to make X look pretty eeeeeehhhhhhh in comparison.
I liked that better than “Cured”. For some reason Lister ordering Kryten about didn’t bother me but the “Mr Lister’s Fridge” label did a bit. Lister’s lazy and might not even notice he’s falling into a master-servant pattern when asking for a beer, but being called Mr in writing, that he’d object to. And why’s he holding a screwdriver? And when’s it coming out on UKTV Play? I want to know whether to get a fried egg chili chutney sandwich now or later.

Looking like the new ep won’t go up on UKTV Play until the previous ep has been on Dave.
Those fucktwats, I just happen to be in a position where for the duration of this series I am stuck without internet access for two days out of the week. If the latest episode doesn’t show up elsewhere online before late Friday afternoon, I gotta wait until Monday to see it. Something that could’ve easily been done and over with eight months ago and it just had to fucking wait for Red Dwarf to start.
Most chuckle-some. I kind of tired of about 33% of comments that call things “out of character” it smack of entitlement because you saw previous actions you know what they would do next. If that was true to the letter of exactness then you’d never be surprised by the characters or situations ever again. And these characters are “getting older” and have always been flawed and hypocritical. So lister as a young man being more moral about “using” kryten is a standard he has dropped. Thats perfectly true to life, and beyond that series VI reference, Twentica only recently showed us how much Lister has forgotten this fact and isnt self aware even of his over use of Kryten. Clearly this clip sets up the MILF based role reversal of all that. Really nice to read you are pumped up for this episode performing monkey. I agree I’ve excited for this one for ages, it could well take the dave era crown. If it doesnt, I still think it must be worth the avenue explored, the documentary on this one im looking forward to seeing just as much come the DVD.

If that was true to the letter of exactness then you’d never be surprised by the characters or situations ever again. And these characters are “getting older” and have always been flawed and hypocritical. There’s surprising character moments, like Rimmer doing something good, and there’s hypothetical entirely out-of-character moments, like – taking it to the extreme for the sake of argument – Kryten murdering Cat in his sleep, or Lister finally meeting an another human being and then cracking a joke when she falls out an airlock.
You can’t really win in that respect because people seem to want to watch the characters develop but then when you see something that goes against previous development all that can really be said is that its new development. Its like many expected Rimmer to be abit different after the events of The Beginning but nope nothing really changed at all. If you look at Rimmer in modern Dwarf you are never surprised that he would watch his brother die and not care about it because that seems to be more or less the caricature of who Rimmer is and anything outside of that is out of character, while in the early seasons there was alot more sides to the character that i think often gets forgotten about these days.
Den of Geeks has a review up for the next episode is anyone is interested. Oh and digispy has an interview with the cast and Doug where they talk about each episode with some spoilers.
So I cancelled plans and had a whole Red Dwarf night planned around the embuggerance of it being released on UKTV Play a whole week early and now they can’t even get that right! How long to leave it before giving up and going to bed before the early get up? ????
There was a new trailer on Dave at 10.57, so one to watch out for on +1. I didn’t see the scene mentioned in the Dwafcast so assume it was a different one to that (unless I just missed it, will try and remember to record it in an hour and find out).
Just watched the TV version of the above teaser again, there is actually a pretty big spoiler that can be seen in it. Can just about make it out in SD, an HD frame by frame breakdown would certainly reveal it.

Nope, not that bit. Big shame that it hasn’t been kept a secret tbh (although I’ve not actually seen anyone say it yet so I won’t).
I just seen the ad and i think i know what people are getting at but i kinda suspected that might be something that would happen if the story goes how i think its gonna go. The whole episode worries me just like alot of these recent episodes do but this one does spark my curiosity as to how its gonna be handled.
I’ve now seen a high-quality screenshot of the trailer, and it looks very much like C****** H******** aka M** M******* in the ‘j***** p**’ from the t***** s*******. Where are you getting K*** C***** from?
On another note: is the shot in the title sequence altered to remove C****** H********, or did we just not notice before?
That’s not much of a puzzle to solve, but he is on TV to be fair so it’s a public reveal. Another “please keep this secret for 18 months” request rendered pointless. Any left?
The set reports for “Skipper” here and on Gazpacho have no reference at all to multiple guest stars from the past at all (apart from the G&T one’s brief reference to Clapperboardgate), which suggests they were asked on the evening to not even intimate these appearances. Might there be more to come?
I think Doug has wanted to bring back M** since The R** D**** M**** so i wouldn’t be at all surprised. Lets just hope there is enough time in 30 minutes to do everything that Doug wants to do here. Infact i wonder if the M**** has any influence here
Another “please keep this secret for 18 months” request rendered pointless. Any left? You’ve got to laugh really haven’t you, not even a hint from anyone for that long then just bung it in a trailer 4 weeks before the episode is viewable.
Let’s go through the entire list of deliberate XI/XII surprises so far not revealed in advance through GNP/UKTV publicity or by one of the cast/crew: – Kevin Eldon was in it (ends)
I don’t know if any/how many of these reports are true, but those asterisks aren’t terribly difficult to decipher, and could fall into Spoiler territory…
We think C****** H******* is in XII because an official trailer with something that looks remarkably like M** M*******’s face in it has been broadcast. That’s fair game under the spoiler policy.
Well, there were a lot of us who haven’t/hadn’t seen it. If it’s fair game, drop the fucking asterisks.
I think it’s one of those things where it’s a spoiler that has technically been revealed by promotional material, but only if you look very closely. So probably something most people would rather not know in advance. But yes, like Rainier Wolfcastle’s goggles, the asterisks do nothing.
Might that be why that trailer hasnt surfaced again since on TV. Cool news. Skippers going to be fun.
A trailer aired before on Dave after a Modern Life Is Goodish repeat that not only featured the infamous spoiler clip but also had a snippet of what looked like Timewave revealing another unannounced guest star – Joe Sims from Broadchurch. As my wife has acted alongside Joe Sims, I am now a tantalisingly few degrees of separation from my favourite TV show.
There was a trailer on during last night’s Mock The Week repeats. I looked carefully, but it flashed by far too quick for me to spot anything monumental.
