Red Dwarf: Just The Episode Titles Quickies Posted by Ian Symes on 11th September 2023, 09:35 Most people would have written this video off as a bad idea as soon as they remembered what the seventh episode is called. Not us.
I like that ‘Polymorph’ is only uttered once in the eponymous ep, compared to about 4691 times in Can of Worms.
I like the way this shows off the slightly different pronunciations of the episodes in different accents, like “Cassandra”. And the way Kryten starts off saying “the InquisitOR” and then changes to “the Inquisit’r”. Also, Lister seems to be pining for the Cjords.
The ones for Queeg and M-Corp genuinely felt like I’d had a breakdown and couldn’t understand regular language any more.
Lots of lovely little gags in there – enjoyed Kryten’s halfway through moment and Bully – but my favourite bit was White Hole which was strangely hypnotic.
Not that I would have expected anything else, but it was interesting how few times Cat says “Kryten” compared to Rimmer and Lister. I also think it a missed opportunity not to have a clip of Cat calling him “Titan” right in the middle of it all. Also enjoyed Bobby (which I believe is how he likes to be addressed) saying what sounds suspiciously more like “Wide Hole” at the end of that little run.
Excellent. You can’t beat a bit of Bully. I was just starting to zone out during the Kryten section when it reached Rimmer’s unhinged “KRYTEEEEN!” in Meltdown, which certainly got my attention again.
I thought there was a reference to Rimmerworld in Timewave. But i mistook it for another OM song reference. You know the joke, this is worse than (enter reference here)
I like the way Rimmer says “Kryten” in Backwards when they’re the Sensational Backwards Brothers. “Crayt’n.” Makes me laugh every time.

I hope you update this after the next series gets made. I also hope Doug names one of the episodes ‘Smeg’… ;)
Absolutely insane. Amazing work! How did you do it? Download copies of the scripts, search through, and then comb through the episodes? Or something more magical and AI-ish?
Well essentially that was the work that went into creating The Smega Drive. I manually searched that (or in the case of “Kryten”, went to each individual episode page and ctrl+Fed) and then found the corresponding bits of episodes in Premiere. No AI was used, I know those episodes better than any AI could.
Looks like Ian is safe from being bested… for now.* * Or forever probably. There’s only so long the AI bros can say “yes, the LLM is stupid now, but it’ll be indistinguishable from a human once we’ve trained it on enough data” without me concluding that they’re full of shit.
