To date, I have finished seasons 1-9 and am now almost done with the first of the four novels. The novels are proving to be more time consuming than estimated, not only because of the massive amount of new entries it generates, but because of some of the conflicts with the series. Still, I’m finding them incredibly enjoyable. Once Series X comes out in America I’ll stop and work on those episodes, then resume the novels. After that comes the smegazines, then books, the RPG, and misc. things such as websites, the Beat the Geek game, and whatnot. What does this mean? Well, my one and only New Year’s resolution is to try my damnest to finish up the manuscript this year, if not the book in it’s entirety. Given the sheer amount of work that’s still ahead, plus other projects in the works, I’m not sure how feasible that is, but a valiant attempt will be made for sure. In the meantime, our illustrator, Pat Carbajal, is currently watching the series and gaining inspiration for the section head illustrations, and I’m still looking for any material outlined in my previous post: Help with a book project I welcome any and all information, help and suggestions with the book. I’m looking forward to this. January 2, 2013 at 7:16 pm #205594 BlisschickParticipant I can’t wait to see it in its finished entirety. I’ll be one of the first in line to buy it. January 2, 2013 at 8:09 pm #205597 MANI506Participant George Lucas has failed to destroy all copies of the Star Wars Holiday Special but Doug Naylor has succeeded in destroying all but 45 seconds of Red Christmas. January 2, 2013 at 9:15 pm #205600 RidleyParticipant Is the Red Dwarf Movie Book worth a mention? January 2, 2013 at 10:12 pm #205602 KarnieParticipant Ridley: It’s the first I’ve heard of that one. Did it ever actually get released, or did it suffer a similar fate as the movie itself? January 2, 2013 at 10:18 pm #205604 KarnieParticipant Also, does anyone have any of these? https://starstore.com/acatalog/Starstore_Catalogue_RED_DWARF_CALENDAR__RED_DWARF_CALENDARS_5730.html January 2, 2013 at 11:29 pm #205607 PhilParticipant Red Dwarf Calendar 2006 Review Red Dwarf 2008 Calendar Review I hope those help…those are the only two reviews here I found for calendars, but there may be more. January 3, 2013 at 6:53 am #205612 Pete Part ThreeParticipant I had the 2006 one. There were some Red Dwarf pictures and some dates in it. January 3, 2013 at 9:27 am #205613 RidleyParticipant Ridley: It’s the first I’ve heard of that one. Did it ever actually get released, or did it suffer a similar fate as the movie itself? Well Mr. Ellard probably has a copy but since I didn’t know if cut content would get a look in I thought I’d bring it up. Although I’m surprised the thread on it here never got nominated for Hall of Fame status. ;) January 3, 2013 at 10:09 am #205614 MANI506Participant The 1997 calendar was exciting. That, along with the Survival Manual, was our first glimpse of series VII. Kryten’s head looked well weird lol. January 3, 2013 at 1:20 pm #205618 takerdemonParticipant All I remember from the Survival Manual is flicking the pages very quickly to see the cartoon guy cutting his own arm off with an axe. Granted, I haven’t read that book since 1997… is it even worth digging out of my loft? January 3, 2013 at 2:04 pm #205619 KarnieParticipant I would definitely include any material found in Andrew’s book that added in-universe material… unfortunately since my book is an unauthorized production I’m not actively seeking out anyone officially affiliated with GNP for fear of getting them in trouble. It’s a shame, that book would probably almost be as good as having the movie script itself. =) January 3, 2013 at 2:09 pm #205620 siParticipant The Survival Manual is actually one of my favourite bits of merch ever. I had the pages from the 1996 and 1997 calendars as a ‘border’ around the top of my bedroom walls when I was younger. Found them recently, all stuck to each other with sixteen year old blutak. I still have all the calendars somewhere – I will not throw RD stuff away. I have the 1998 (10th Anniversary) one, the 2000 (Red Dwarf VIII-centric) one, the one with the movie parody posters (2007?), 2008, 2009…allsorts. They’ve gone through three or four house moves, but I have them somewhere. I also have a tendency to keep magazines/articles/covers. Generally in decent condition. :) January 3, 2013 at 2:13 pm #205621 KarnieParticipant I was able to find images of all the 2007 and 2008 calendar pages, but other than that I’m hoping someone has kept their old calendars and can possibly get me scans of them. EDIT: Si…. I think we need to chat… =) January 3, 2013 at 3:42 pm #205623 Pete Part ThreeParticipant >The Survival Manual is actually one of my favourite bits of merch ever. Even when I was 16 years old and hungry fro Red Dwarf VII info, I remember reading it and thinking “what the fuck is this?” January 3, 2013 at 5:12 pm #205624 siParticipant Here are some pics of the calendars I have (plus some magazine covers). I don’t, however, have 2006. :( More photos of my old Red Dwarf calendars – if you’re interested – at http://wp.me/p2hGD8-3A January 8, 2013 at 7:24 pm #205679 KarnieParticipant Also looking for scans of the backs of the Futera cards, anything and everything except for the base set, which I already have. Anyone? Anyone? January 8, 2013 at 9:33 pm #205683 siParticipant I’ve got some – the basic set, plus some of the extras… I’ll have a look and let you know which of the ‘special’ cards I’ve got. January 14, 2013 at 6:38 pm #205808 KarnieParticipant I see that John Hoare did a review for the 2006 calendar way back when…. John, if you’re reading, do you still happen to have that calendar? January 16, 2013 at 2:06 pm #205816 Seb PatrickKeymaster I would definitely include any material found in Andrew’s book that added in-universe material… unfortunately since my book is an unauthorized production I’m not actively seeking out anyone officially affiliated with GNP for fear of getting them in trouble. It’s a shame, that book would probably almost be as good as having the movie script itself. =) The book doesn’t exist ;-) January 16, 2013 at 6:41 pm #205819 Pete Part ThreeParticipant You can prove anything with facts. January 23, 2013 at 11:10 am #205909 Danny StephensonKeymaster He’s making it up… The bloody book doesn’t exist… January 23, 2013 at 11:13 am #205910 Smeg4BrainsParticipant If it doesn’t exist how did people manage to review it on Amazon? Eh? January 23, 2013 at 2:26 pm #205913 KarnieParticipant I know it was never released, but I’m assuming that since it has an Amazon holding-page it might have at least been started; it’s the unreleased manuscript I was saying would be cool to have, but as I said, that’s about as likely as getting a hold of one of the movie scripts… And I’m guessing the “reviews” for the book are fellow G&T members having a little fun =) Author Replies Viewing 24 replies - 1 through 24 (of 24 total) Scroll to top • Scroll to Recent Forum Posts You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
