I’d still highly recommend it and think it’s one of the best kids’ shows ever made but it’s not as funny as I remember. Or maybe that’s because I don’t find puns particularly amusing any more – and that seems to be the source of 80% of the humour. One episode (Little Brown Noses; parody of Comic Relief) was a shining example of how good the show *could* be and frequently had me laughing out loud. And the parody of The Crystal Maze later on in the series was superb. The script is redeemed heavily by the performances and the overall production. The actors are all great (particularly Wayne Morris as Robin and Ramsey Gilderdale as Guy of Gisbourne) and it’s extremely well-directed. The songs are all memorable from the six years since the repeats and 19 years since the original screenings which can only be a compliment too. I guess it’s like a televised pantomime, which sounds like an insult for Red Dwarf VIII, but here it’s a compliment. Danny’s not bad in it either. I still like it – it’s not as good as it was when I was a kid, but I love puns and silly songs, so that aspect still lives with me if nothing else. But when I saw it at the RIGHT age, it was brilliant! I can still watch it now without being embarrassed. But you just can’t not sing along to the end theme. :) March 20, 2008 at 10:40 pm #121830 SephParticipant Maid Marion was one of the few shows I adored as a kid and I still love it now, keep trying to hunt the DVDs down but in my local HMV they’ve been replaced by Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen dvds, which I can only assume is some kind of hmv campaign to destroy the braincells of children everywhere. March 20, 2008 at 10:53 pm #121831 PhilParticipant They may just be pandering to the pedophile market, which is a wise move. Pedophiles have disposable income up the ass. Or, just as frequently, up the asses of their nieces and nephews. March 21, 2008 at 12:53 am #121835 DaveParticipant Is that a disposable outcome? I loved Marion at the time, and definately buy the DVDs but they’re always o expensive. HMV need to ask me before they put together a sale.
