February 11, 2009 at 4:49 pm #91167 Ian SymesKeymaster if a hologram did die would it go to Silicon Heaven? Not if it was a cunt. February 11, 2009 at 5:19 pm #91168 Zombie Jim UndeadParticipant Aaaaaaaaaaaaand….Ian wins! February 11, 2009 at 5:22 pm #91169 DaveParticipant >if a hologram did die would it go to Silicon Heaven? I suppose the human soul would already be in what I never thought I’d call Carbon Heaven or Carbon Hell, otherwise there could be some terrible double booking. February 11, 2009 at 5:46 pm #91171 hummingbirdParticipant > I suppose the human soul would already be in what I never thought I?d call Carbon Heaven or Carbon Hell Indeed. Rimmer’s already dead. But maybe the light bee would go to silicon heaven. February 11, 2009 at 6:06 pm #91172 JamesTCParticipant >But maybe the light bee would go to silicon heaven. But the light bee holds Rimmer’s personality, it holds a probable Rimmer based on his memories so if the light bee did go to heaven surely it will still hold Rimmer unless holding the hologram is counted as its job much as Kryten’s job is to serve and in fulfilling it the light bee goes to silicon heaven but the program it held just doesn’t go anywhere, it just dies. February 11, 2009 at 6:16 pm #91174 ChrisMParticipant The program (i.e. Rimmer*) probably end up in software heaven. Bit of a misnomer really due to regular crashes. The avatar of Bill Gates at the pearly gates is regularly throttled and keeps having to be reinstalled. *Actually is Rimmer’s light bee actually contained in the light bee, or is the light bee just an emitter? Some episodes suggest the former (i.e. Thanks for the Memory, Quarantine- where they hack into the software suite.) Others the latter (i.e. much of series 6 onwards… although Starbug’s systems could still contain the software like a hologram suite.)
