    Hi.

I like podcasts. And comedy podcasts. I love Dwarfcast. I love Doctor Who.

Can anyone recommend any Dr. Who podcasts that are anything similar to Dwarfcast? I like a mixture of smart humour, some really dumb humour and 100% unabashed wokeness. Any time I try a Who one they’re either conducted by people who should be behind bars, or people who are the oral equivalent of sleeping pills.

Are there any that are, y’know, good, clever and fun?

    THANKS!

Have you listened to the official podcast for these couple new episodes? I won’t pretend it meets any of your criteria, but episodes are short enough and the moments of insight from RTD are nice.

I watched the first episode of The official podcast, and found it excruciating, to be honest. As you say, hearing from Rusty’s always nice, but even that’s not enough to get me to listen to/watch episode two and beyond.

Have you tried ”The Review of Death Podcast” on the Batmanmarch YT channel? They are pretty relaxed and comedic. LOTS of Red Dwarf references and nothing taken TOO seriously. I highly recommend :)

I don’t know how you made the text do that, Tek_Blakewell, but it’s very impressive. It seems to just continue out of frame like something out of a skit.

If I had a nickel for every time I accidentally ended up posting something twice…

Looks to me like you copied and pasted the name from the source and it carried over some of the formatting

I’ve just also spent a non-0 amount of time trying to work out why your avatar was broken.

    Jesus CHRIST, Tek!

Why, what is Ted Bakewell’s avatar?

Another ”who tuber” who is pretty good is ”The Chosen Chimp”. Not exactly a podcast but more of a solo reviewer. Pretty laidback and worth a look. They do cyberman backstory deep dives and things like that :)

I get my podcasts through Spotify…and managed to find that here. Thank you for the recommendation. It’s a good listen that got me to wash up, put away *and* sort the laundry without doomscrolling. That’s all I wanted. Thank you!

Wheezing Groaning Sound is a great Doctor Who podcast. Lots of piss taking from what I gather are professional comedians.

Toby Hadoke’s Time Travels is another great one. Very friendly, comforting and informative.

DwarfCasts were my first love of course. When I heard the Meltdown episode I thought ‘these are my people’. The day the Can’t Smeg Won’t Smeg episode dropped it was a stupendous moment in my own personal history.

Thanks for the additional recommendations. I’ll try those two, too.

Another vote for A Wheezing, Groaning Sound. It’s a quasi-spinoff from co-host John Rain’s James Bond/action film podcast, Smershpod. If you like his humour, I’d recommended his books Thunderbook (the Bond films), Explodobook (80s action films) and Superbook (pre-MCU superhero films).

I’d also recommend On the Timelash. Scottish fans Mark and Ben discuss New Who in order, pairing each story with a classic one they feel is thematically similar (e.g. Robot of Sherwood & The King’s Demons)
