Personally I think that Dave was already interested in doing a new series on the premise that the viewing figures of BTE were good, but that may be my Friday-inspired sunny optimisim shining through… August 14, 2009 at 11:06 am #102286 JamesTCParticipant Red Dwarf, Series IX, has a nice ring to it. August 14, 2009 at 11:32 am #102288 NoFroParticipant It’ll be announced at Dimension Jump. Let’s hope Doug is already getting some ideas together for some episodes. August 14, 2009 at 11:33 am #102289 NoFroParticipant Double post. Sorry. August 14, 2009 at 4:16 pm #102292 siParticipant Also from TOS: >Chris Barrie has donated his actual script from the making of Back to Earth to the Insulin Dependent Diabetes Trust. It’s on eBay right now, with the auction closing on Wednesday, August 19th. As an Insulin Dependent Diabetic, this I like. (Highest bid currently ?102…) August 14, 2009 at 4:17 pm #102293 pfmParticipant I’m sure he’ll still have Red Dwarf stories to tell. Personally I would like the Rimmer’s son angle to come into play, even if it’s completely different to the book. With BtE being a strong Lister episode methinks Arnold needs some attention. Also, could we finally get a Cat episode?? August 14, 2009 at 4:42 pm #102296 JamesTCParticipant I think the first story to be told is the Kochanski/Lister situation, I wouldn’t actually be opposed to them getting together, I mean it will be nice for Lister to be happy. August 14, 2009 at 4:53 pm #102298 hummingbirdParticipant But finally getting them together would remove one of his prime motivators, so while it would be nice for him to be happy it would be a disaster for the character. August 14, 2009 at 4:57 pm #102299 JamesTCParticipant I don’t think it would ruin the show though, if anything it would give more potential for comedy, imagine that they were making Series VI now and they said that Red Dwarf would be gone, how would we react to that, I mean the main setting gone! But it made one of the best Series in the history of Dwarf. August 14, 2009 at 5:01 pm #102302 pfmParticipant I think Doug has now set it up nicely so the whole show could end with Lister finding Kochanski, whether this would be at the end of the next (possible) series or further down the line. August 14, 2009 at 5:11 pm #102303 hummingbirdParticipant I think the search for Kochanski is far more interesting than him finding her …. the fact that she is out there, and theoretically obtainable, as opposed to during series I-VI when she was completely unattainable (being slightly dead). Character is all about motivation, and this a strong one for Lister. If he gets the girl then you’ve got to provide him with another goal … and I don’t think getting back to earth is strong enough reason anymore, having been done in various forms already. August 14, 2009 at 5:13 pm #102304 NoFroParticipant I’d love to see Starbug in a new series. And I’d love to see more of the stories that only Dwarf can do as a sitcom leading Red Dwarf to deliver jokes that only it can deliver. August 14, 2009 at 5:15 pm #102306 JamesTCParticipant I do hope we see Starbug, I love that little ship. August 14, 2009 at 5:33 pm #102309 NoFroParticipant It’s more wanting to see a ship-to-surface vessel. If a new one was introduced in the new series I’d be just as happy because we could see a set that’s new to the show and the Dwarfer’s would be able to do more and, more importantly, have a cockpit scene or two. I did love the starbug sets though. August 14, 2009 at 5:53 pm #102311 JamesTCParticipant White Midget. The sets of Series VI are my favourite. August 14, 2009 at 6:01 pm #102314 NoFroParticipant Also my favourite. And yes White Midget did spring to mind. Would love the “used future” look to carry on in any new ship sets rather than have everything look like the cold, sterile new bunk room. It was beautifully made but didn’t feel very dwarf and seemed a bit cold. August 14, 2009 at 6:48 pm #102318 p2p_productionsParticipant New Drive Room, perhaps? August 14, 2009 at 10:49 pm #102323 Danny StephensonKeymaster ‘Infinity’ as a series please!!!! August 14, 2009 at 10:53 pm #102324 JamesTCParticipant ‘Infinity’ was mostly an expansion of the story told in the show, well told in a much funnier and interesting way to the show but still. I think if Doug is to turn a book into a show it would be ‘Last Human’, which would work rather well overall though I don’t think the budget could stretch to the scope of the novel, all those rogue droids, all those Gelf, all that sperm. August 15, 2009 at 7:19 am #102331 peas_and_cornParticipant In other news, it appears TOS is down. August 15, 2009 at 3:04 pm #102340 JoParticipant I blame Andrew. August 15, 2009 at 5:19 pm #102346 JamesTCParticipant I think TOS has been down since about 1969, they did make those 6 films too though. August 16, 2009 at 5:27 pm #102386 RidleyParticipant Has anything happened with Mr. Naylor’s new production company? August 17, 2009 at 4:30 am #102407 Ben PaddonParticipant Well this is all very fascinating. August 19, 2009 at 5:10 pm #102498 siParticipant Also from TOS: >Chris Barrie has donated his actual script from the making of Back to Earth to the Insulin Dependent Diabetes Trust. It?s on eBay right now, with the auction closing on Wednesday, August 19th. As an Insulin Dependent Diabetic, this I like. (Highest bid currently ?102?) Three and a half hours left. Current price? ?837! Not bad, methinks. August 19, 2009 at 6:13 pm #102501 JamesTCParticipant Wow! Didn’t think it would make that much. August 19, 2009 at 7:11 pm #102502 redhead85Participant > As an Insulin Dependent Diabetic, this I like. (Highest bid currently ?102…) Haha that was my bid! I want it but I don’t ?850 want it! ^__^ What a fab thing to do for charity Author Replies Viewing 27 replies - 1 through 27 (of 27 total) Scroll to top • Scroll to Recent Forum Posts You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
